Many may have noticed a significant decline in my posting here on CP over the last few months. Many things attribute to it from working more to trying to take a larger course load (in order to graduate from TAMU early), to recent events and the impact of hurricane Ike on my immediate family.

A little over a month into this semester, and a few weeks following the hurricane, things have finally begun to settle down a little bit. Power finally came back on to my parents house in Houston late last week, and my Grandfather's house which was flooded is still in need of some repairs, but we got most of the damaged furniture and carpet cleaned up. First round of midterms are over after today for me, and I cannot wait for the stogie reward I have saved for myself to celebrate the end of midterms, and a job well done. For the first time in my collegiate career, I put practically every sleepless hour outside of work in the books. Usually, I'm the student that slacks at the beginning of the semester, only to dig themselves out of a hole at finals. After having a "sit-down" with myself, 2 A's and 3 B's are the product of the first round of midterms. Never have I had better than 4 C's and a single B. Needless to say, the extra studying took precedence, and cut back severely on my hobbies and forum time.

This is not an "official return," because I never left, or went completely inactive. Just became more of a ghost while reading and keeping up on topics, than taking the extra time to post, follow-up and be pro-involved. But with that, I do not know, nor have I conversed with many members that have joined since the end of last May. I'm sure there are many members that have joined the community and become stand-up members in the last few months. Therefore, by offering a few 5ers, I hope to get to know a few of the more recent members, and converse with some of y'all a bit more.

To receive:
- Must have joined AFTER or ON May 15, 2008
- Must have 50 or more posts
- No episodes of ASSHATTERY (If you must ask, don't bother)

Be one of the first three members in reply to the thread saying "I'll take one," of course, you must meet the requirements. Please, DO NOT pm me, a simple reply will do. Later this evening I will get the shipping information from the recipients.

Jake,
Nice gesture on your part. Sorry to hear about your grandfather's house. We went through this here back when I was in high school and it really sucks. I think floods are the worst type of natural disaster you can suffer. Also, good on you for focusing on school. I was a lot like you about fluffing off classes until it was almost to late. I would have put much more effort in to school if I could do it all over again. Keep working hard at, and don't be a stranger around here.

The three receivers have replied!

I will contact you all this evening to get your shipping information!

Glad to see the studying is paying off for you. I do wish I would have applied myself more in college, keep up the discipline, it's well worth it.

We did get hit pretty hard this year with storms this year. Gustav left us without power for a good week and left alot of tree and roof damage. Right when the wind started we had a tree fall in the backyard and the the biggest limb came through one of the windows. It is very unusual to have it rain in your house, but you really can't do anything about it until the eye comes close enough and the wind dies down.

The important thing is that everyone is ok. Sometimes diasters like this can pull people and families together and make us realize how important life really is.

Thanks Again,
Rich
