The 48s are my favorite Añejo and I've smoked quite a few boxes of these over the past couple of years. One thing I love about Añejos and Opus X is a nice, firm draw. :thumbs:

However, I'd say that about 40% of the Añejo 48s that I've smoked are a little too tight for my liking which is easily fixed with a cigar poker, badge pin or a straightened out paper clip.

Most times, this bugs me but since the Añejos taste so darn good, I put up with it. :D

Anyone else ever notice this? ???
 
No CC I haven't noticed that, I would ask what your rh% is but I am sure you have already tried lowering it.
 
Never had that problem, Bill... you can send me your Añejos for draw-testing though. For the good of mankind, of course. :)
 
The ones I got from last year's batch (about 10-15 left now) have all drawn pretty well, but I kind of like a firm draw. That said, one or two of the 48s that I've smoked from that particular box (so 2/10) have been too tight, although, they were still far from unsmokable.

I also think that at least this year's #50s that I've smoked are drawing a bit on the loose side, but again, that's probably just my personal preference.
 
Just had one today - and it was fantastic (as usual). But because it was straight out of the box (just picked it up today) it had the usual staying lit problem... I like to keep them at 60-65 for about 6 mos to a year before I smoke 'em. Helps that quite a bit.

How can you hold onto them for that long!? I guess I just need to work on self control.

The 48 is one of my top two favorites. I amassed about 15 of them and smoked them all summer long. I don't know how old they were, but I did notice some draw inconsitency even though they were all stored in the same humi at 65%. Oddly enough, the fiver of 49's that I purchased had no issues whatsoever. Go figure.
 
Bill I have some from 04 and 05 and haven't had an issue on these. I did have a draw problem on the 04 Shark. I'm with Moki my draw testing services are available for the full Anejo line, especially the 50's which are my favorites.
 
I would need a box of them to give an unbiased opinion. I don't mind manual labor, so don't worry about it being too much for me to handle ;)

I have one resting in my 60% ISOM humi hoping it makes a difference.

They seem wet. I had a Shark recently with the same problem - wet.
