OK, it seems that the A/C in my room is not working as well as it was yesterday. Temps in the humi are hovering at 78-80, RH 67%. Now, I just got all these great smokes from everyone out in CP land (thanks again) and I am worried about beetles. Most of the sticks are in cello, also, i have zip lock bags by the hundreds....should i re pack them in the bags, or no?

Thanks
Tim

Are you using a coolerdor, humidor, cabinet, etc?

The quick and easy solution that I have used with coolidor and humidors alike is to wrap an ice pack in a towel and leave it on top. It's a temporary soltion, but should suffice until you can get the A/C fixed.

Take your ammo-dor to the com-shack and ask them to let you leave it in there until your A/C is fixed.

At least when I was in the Army the com-shack was always the coolest place in the AO.

Right now, they are in an ammo can humi, and a tuppi. I think I will go and buy a cooler to put this stuff in. I have ready acsess to frozen bottles of water, if i put a few in the cooler, it shold keep the temps down.

What do ya think???

A cooler with some blue ice packs will do for a temporary solution. I would just wrap the ice packs in a towel and place them on top of the cooler to absorb any condensation.

Wrapping it in a towel and putting it on top as Keyzer mentioned is probably the best route. You wouldn't want condensation from the frozen water bottles to wet your cigars - the best thing to do is kind of what Wurm said...if you know someone you trust to only smoke a few of your cigars who are in an A/C controlled building, leave it with them until your A/C is fixed. The frozen packs/water bottles need to be replaced and can just be a annoyance on top of everything else.

Well I looked into coolers, the best i can do is $33 for a 50qt, this seemed a little pricey for me. My wife is going to mail me a 30 qt rubber maid box so i should have enough room to get the cigars in there. I have ordered some beads from Viper as well as a torch. I am using frozen water bottles in my wall locker where I keep the ammo, tupi, and now 20 count humi (thanks BM) I have got the temp down to 67 and even though it is a hassle, it is working. I have put in a work order to fix the AC so it should be up and running in about 3 days. I can deal with the ice bottles for that long. No worries.

Thanks for all the input

Will that rubber maid box keep a good seal? If it doesn't, you won't be able to keep a consistent humidity.

it should, i told my wife what to look for. I will double the amount of beads that i need, and will be putting the cigars into cedar boxes, so that should help it the seal is not 100%. I have already started to season the boxes, and the rubber maid will not be here for about 10 days. I really think that it will all work out. if not, i will just have to smoke more....either way, I win
