A Conspiracy with US Postal

In Denver recently a postal worker was stealing those Net Flix DVDs that come in the mail. When they caught her she had several hundred DVDs in her house. I think it is becoming a real big problem in the postal service, and the law should be cracking down soon...

Doesn’t surprise me at all, you know what it takes to work for the post office, graduating high school. That’s it. Which is why I never tell what I’m shipping and I always attach a DC slip. I’m a nice guy but there’s been a few times with the PO where I’ve hade to go to my not so happy place. Since then they’ve been very good to me.

This just reminded me...

About a year or so ago, I ordered some spearfishing gear that I couldn't get here locally. It arrived, no problem, but upon opening the box, I see another box inside it. It had a UK postmark, customs forms, and address that had been scratched over. It looked like it was going to someone in Utah, but I really couldn't make it out. The box was open as well, though it had been taped (that is, the smaller box inside mine...my box arrived fine, looking as if it had not been mucked around with). So, I open the smaller box up further and inside are 5 GO-GO's 45's, picture discs. WTF? Ok. Vacation, yada yada yada. Whatever. I boxed it back up, and gave it to my mailguy with RTN to Sender.
Guess there was a heartbroken Belinda Carlisle fan somewhere though.

Strange, either Dave's stalking me, or we both lost packages recently!

"2 Members: davew0670, Gonz"

So what exactly happens when a package with a DC only is apparantly lost? Is there any recourse? I sent my end of a NST out to NY on the 6th, and it hasn't shown up yet, and the dc number hasn't been scanned anywhere yet.

If they scanned it in when they accepted the package, they can track where it's gone and possibly find out where it strayed. If it was an online printout and the carrier didn't scan it into the system, there might not be much recourse. Check with your local PO.

UGH can we discuss this when the last of the 8 packages I sent out has finally reached the deserving BOTL here hand's?

I hate bad karma... :p

*crosses fingers, knocks on wood*

I checked in today at the local post office (keep in mind it's for a population of ~850), and they were able to look it up on an internal system that shows more detail than what's available to us on the usps website. This particular package that I mailed on the 6th just finally showed up today at the destination post office. Better late than never I guess.

I had a poster roll go AWOL for ONE MONTH AND ONE DAY!! And then show up undamaged at the recipients door.

??? Makes you wonder sometimes if your package fell off a shelf and rolled in to a crack sometimes.

But better late than never is very true, only thing is is when cigars are involved every day in the postal system opens them up to damage.

That's weird...the ONLY time I've ever had a problem with the USPS was when sending a package to NY. It's happened twice actually. The first time the package took 3 weeks via priority and the second time it never showed.

I wonder if the volume of packages going to that area just overwhelm their ability to get them out in a timely manner?

I've had packages get to Hawaii faster than they've gotten to NY. I've also had some packages get to NY faster than to my parents' house in Indiana!

Strange things going on at my former employer sometimes...:)

There are dishonest people that work in all sorts of places, including the USPS. I'm sure everybody knows someone that takes stuff from the company supply closet and then takes it home. I'm sure that there is one or two of those people working at USPS too...they just have a bigger selection of things to take.

Taking a couple of post-its or a ream of paper is a little different than stealing from a client.

I know. I thought of that as I hit the post button, but I thought it was generic enough and didn't need to be edited.

There's people who steal and there are those who don't. It doesn't matter where they work, they will still steal. It's those who don't steal that usually suffer from the bad rep.

Sorry, Gonz, stealing is stealing. That's the justification used by thieves caught shoplifting, they're stealing from the "big corporations", doesn't really hurt anyone.

Weird stuff, I have been having lots of problems as of late too! A couple of packages I sent out recently never showed up on the DC tracker and haven't arrived yet....

Traded a humidor for some cigars and just found out the humidor was basically destroyed from usps. Not only was it ruined but someone took the time to open the package and steal the built in hygrometer out of it. This really pisses me off. Now ill be out of a humidor and have to send back some really nice cigars.

???

A couple of the brightest, most honest people I know never had "official" educations past high school...

Don't forget, Newman work in NYC. Your package might still be in his closet.
