A day of mixed feelings.....

On the happy side, I got a call from the insurance company about my van. They offered me a very nice amount for settlement and we should be able to buy two cars for the amount they have offered. I have been stressing over this insurance stuff since I was in the wreck and this is a huge load off my mind. Now comes the fun task of shopping for another van that will make the wife happy.

On the sad (kinda) part of the day, my supervisor was just ordered to Seattle for a meeting. We are not sure if he is going to be suspended or fired, but either one can happen. He ordered us to violate some FAA regs in regards to parts storage and we called him on it. He got his butt chewed over it yesterday and then he turns around and orders us to do it again an hour later. We called his boss on it again. All of us involved were asked to write a statement about the events and what happened and send them to our division head in Seattle last night. He was ordered to get on the next flight to Seattle first thing this morning. Not looking good right now. We did the right thing in calling his superior on the situation, but we feel kinda bad about him probably loosing his job.

This last couple weeks has been a roller coaster for me. I will be glad when things return to normal.

It won't do any good to tell you to not worry about it. It sounds awfully stressful. But rest assured, you and your co-workers did the right thing. Good on ya...

Don't feel bad for sure. You and the others that called him on it are just being honest and that my friend exemplifies integrity. Only wish more people woud do that. He has made his own bed, let him lie in it you all made the right move. hopefully others on your team or others that may be moved into his position can learn from his mistake.

My boss was "releaved" of his duties recently, and let me tell you it has been beyond stressful the last few days. Can't wait till tonight to burn a good one. I understand feeling a little guilty about pointing something out, just remember he would probably do the same to you if not worse. Unfortunately sometimes it comes down to every man for himself. :thumbs:
 
Bilder, you did what you had to do.
Your boss screwed up and was called to the carpet.
He then turned around and did it again.
Violating FAA regulations is serious stuff.

Here's hoping your next boss is a cigar smoker...
 
Its all good man, just think of how you would feel if you did what he said and someone got hurt becuase of it. When it comes to something like that i'd rather see someone get fired.
 
Mike I am glad about the van and insurance...and I will keep good thoughts about the job of your supervisor and what that means for you guys at work...

That is exactly why we made the call. The rules are pretty strict and they are there for a reason. Had this particular part made it on an aircraft, it may have worked or it may not. There is no way to know for sure, but it is not wise to gamble with the lives of over 100 people. Our job is dull and borning 90% of the time, but we have to take it seriously to prevent stuff like this from happening.

The big boss just called and thanked us for saving the company over $100,000 in fines had this been allowed to happen and the FAA had seen it. Wonder if they will share some of that savings with me?
 
They should...you know...corny as this sounds..there was a movie or a tv show where this very same thing happened...when i saw your post...I immediately thought if it...maybe i will think of it...And Mike, what you guys did reporting your boss? That shows the character you all have and how you care about the job you do :)

You don't need my two cents, but it is always hard to do the right thing. Like the previous post said, may your next boss enjoy cigars!! This too will end. Hang in there bro. :thumbs:

It just means there might be an opportunity to move up. ;) I saw this in a movie, and I know it works, everyone on screen seemed so relaxed.

Just take your shoes and socks off, walk around in light clothes, breath deep... and repeat after me....

Well it happened...

Came into work today and the Manager from Seattle was here. She took us aside and let us know that our Supervisor was no longer with the airline.

She took us out to lunch while he came in and cleaned out his office. Got a supervisor from Seattle coming up on Monday to fill the gap till they can hire someone else.

The next few weeks will be interesting......
 
I am sorry to hear that...if in fact you were close with that supervisor...i know it is hitting you hard. I hope things transition well and that you all wind up "ok" (for lack of a better term) during the changes.
