Smokin'Sims
Gettin' my nerd on, Hopp Schwiez!
Just thought I'd take a moment to share some of the stuff I did/learned over the week-end. On New Year's eve I drove a friend from here in Oxford to Amarillo. She had recently finished her degree and was moving to live with her husband, whom she had married about a week before. She is Polish and he is Armenian, which made this interesting. What made this cool was not the nice long rive across Oklahoma and Arkansas, but the fact that in Armenia gifts are exchanged on New Years rather than Christmas as the Soviets worked to get rid of religion. Both the husband and his parents considered her arrival as a New Year's gift. I also learned Armenian food is awesome, especially made by a friends mom.
I slept a few hours then drove down to Dallas on the first. While watching football I learned that sitting on the offensive player does not constitute delay of game, but removing him from the pile is a personal foul. I did some beer and cigar shopping. I still think Tobacco Road is a great shop. I found a Padron 45 there. I then went a spent an evening talking, smoking, freezing with Ed (Pugman). I learned a lot about him and think he is a great guy. Lurch is lucky to have him as a grandpa. It reminded me how important it is to learn form the experiences of previous generations. If your grandparents are still around I'd advise taking time to visit with them.
I thought this would be good to share, and hope you all had a safe and happy holiday week-end.
