Somewhere, out there.
As many of you know, I am a Padron nut. On Father's Day I was finally able to enjoy a cigar that I have been longing for since 2005, the Padron Millenium Maduro. I stink at reviews, so let me just say that this cigar was amazing and lived up to my expectations in all regards. Absolutely wonderful.

Having finally smoked this cigar, my quest to smoke at least one of every maduro wrapped cigar in the Padron lineup has ended. I must say that it was not an unpleasant experience at all. Some were better than others, but they were all very good cigars.

During this adventure I smoked about 120 Padron maduro cigars (most of them PAM Exclusivos or #2000 maduros). All were very well constructed and all shared a similar flavor profile of sweet tobacco with a touch of pepper (not spiciness, but black pepper flavor), dried black cherries, and cocoa. Different sizes and blends yielded different concentrations of these flavors, but they were present in all of them to some degree. Perhaps this was psychological more than being based in reality, but it's my experience and that's all I've got.

The only example that was different enough to mention was the Familia de Reserva No. 44. There was a rich creaminess to this cigar that I've not experienced in any other Padron cigar. It was wonderful.

If anyone really is interested, this is how I rank the Padron maduro cigars based strictly on flavor and smoking experience (your opinion may differ):

1. Familia de Reserva No. 44 - best cigar I've ever smoked.

1 1/2. Millenium Maduro - 2nd best cigar I've ever smoked. Almost tied with the No. 44 and if I had more examples of each I'd be able to differentiate them better, but the 2 44s I smoked were both just so great!

2. 1964 Anniversary Exclusivo Maduro - this one fell out of the awesome tree and hit every awesome branch.

3. 1926 Series 80th Maduro - excellent, just too spendy for my budget.

4. 1926 Serie No. 2 Maduro - great smoke.

5. 2k maduro (a regular in my rotation) - when taking "bang for buck" into consideration this is the best cigar out there, bar none.

I could be perfectly happy smoking 2k maduros forever, even though they're my #5. The Familia, Millenium, and 80th are out of my price range for frequent purchase (or just too damn hard or impossible to come by), but Exclusivos and 2k maduros always have a place in my humidor.

I really want to thank those of you at CP who have helped me reach my goal. I won't mention any names, but without you guys, I'd still be a few short.

Now on to the naturals! :D

Congrats, Alan. That really is an accomplishment. Hopefully, one day, I can earn and enjoy what you have experienced.

...and that is all that matters my friend!

Congrats on the culmination of a wonderful journey. How cool was it that you made the Padron Millenium Maduro the summit of your 'cigar climb'....and to receive it through the Make-a-Wish thread was awesome. I hope you stuck a flag in the butt and took a picture!

Now you take the next step on the follow-up to that journey....telling all the stories that occurred along the way and reliving those moments.

It sounds like you had a great Father's Day Alan.

Congrats, that's a nice accomplishment, I hope to get their eventually as well. We have very similar tastes, the 64 exclusivos are a favorite of mine as well (along with the torps). Where would the Padron 40th rank on your list? Just curious as that's the first of the Anniversary cigars I've been able to get my hands on, I'd like to see where it falls in comparison to the others.

Well done, Alan! The 2000 Maduro is a favorite of mine, too. I really enjoy the Londres as well.

Steve

What? No pics??

Glad you had a great Father's Day Alan! I think it's great you got to smoke a Millenium to celebrate it. I think I may have to fire up a 2000 this evening....just cause! :D

Congrats Alan, thanks for sharing. What is there not to like about a Padron?

Wow, what a ride. Congrats on reaching the mountain top with that Millenium.

Congrats Alan. Glad you were finally able to get your hands on the last one.

I suddenly feel inspired to find a line of cigars and try to smoke one of each.

Alan-

Great story. Excellent adventure.

Question, where do you rank the Padron 80th? I think this was one of the best cigars I have ever smoked. Althought the Familia de Reserva No. 44 sounds great.

Just curious.

Al (who spells his name the same way you do!)

I've never seen a Familia de Reserva No. 44. If anyone has one they'd be willing to trade, let me know!

Thanks for sharing your journey and triumph with all of us, Alan! Sounds like you had a fathers day to remember

Geez Alan, I thought you had found a pot of gold...LOL

Nice post, thanks for sharing.

I wish!

Thanks for the kind words, gentlemen. :)

For those that asked, while the 40th used to be favorite cigar, I had to knock it out of my Top 5 after smoking the 80th, Familia de Reserva, and Millenium. It is VERY good, but the 80th and No. 2 from the 1926 Serie just hit my taste buds a little more intensely. The last two 40ths I smoked were not any better than the No. 2, so I ranked it higher.

If I had to rank more "everyday" Padron maduros it would go like this:

1. PAM Exclusivos
2. 1926 No. 2
3. 2k
4. PAM Principe
5. Londres/Delicias
