Without knowing what you did it's hard to say why it didn't show up. The norm is:

Alright, I did all of that in that order, except the add post part. When I hit preview, all I see is the text in the message box. Should I see the poll in the preview?

Good question, I really don't remember since I've done like 2 polls the entire time I've been here. You can always just keep editing this post until you get it right.
