So the last deployment and this one I have been standing 8 hours of watch trying to get qualified as a watchstander in Combat Information Center(CIC). This is in addition to anywhere of 4-8 hours of regular shop work. One of the many things we do in CIC is track our Helicopter when it is airborne, and any fixed wing assests working for us patrolling the seas. So the Chief of CIC is a real jerk. No people skills, talks down to people( I am an E-6 with 8 years), and is deameaning, etc.....But he did come through for us. He got 4 spots on the helo rides for the top performers. So today I got a back seat ride in a HH-65. Went out on a Law Enforcement flight. It was nice getting off the ship flying around for a couple hours. Makes me wish I went into an Aviation field.
This weekend we pull into Gitmo. How ironic, I am going to be on Cuban soil, smoking an ISOM I had to buy from Europe. Lol.

Gitmo is surrounded by mine fields and rows and rows of razor wire. The bay is infested with sharks that school because of the run off from the slaughter house. But I am pulling into Hondurus and Cozumel this patrol. :thumbs:

Well see Emo, The Marines are always babysitting the rest of the service branches, you know they are like kids and if you don't watch them they could get into trouble. :D . Have fun Emo.
 
Damn Emo, I have a friend stationed there guarding the Aftghan prisoners. His name is Lee Crowson. I'm pretty sure he's Navy but not certain. He's been there for 6 months and just found out he has to stay another 6 months.

If you're still there I'd appreciate you trying to look him up and say hello. He doesn't smoke cigars but he's a good guy.

You jarred my memory a little when you were talking about CIC. I've stood that watch on the guided missle destroyer I was on. I was an Operation specialist (Radar Man). Boy do I have some stories to tell....LOL!

sounds like you got a little recognition. that's cool that he came through and you hitched a ride on the helo. i'd love to fly in one. don't believe i'll ever have the chance though.
