A little Tatuaje News

Glad I searched before posting this again. I am airing out my imaginary Dracs as I type this.

In that release, Pete says; "...Unfortunately for us, this is a themed cigar that needed to arrive at the retailers before October 31st. We in no way were trying to rush production just to move product. A Halloween cigar released after October 31st doesn’t make much sense."

...but, isn't that exactly what they did? Rush the release of these cigars to move "themed" products? Wouldn't they have sold just as well a month after Halloween if Pete came out and said "....the boxes stink like lacquer and we're not going to put cigars in them...."....??

I like and smoke Tat brown labels, several times a month. Pete makes good stuff, but the whole "special release" stick phenomena seems to me to be way too much hype.

I wouldn't have minded a bit if they had held off until the boxes were dry and ready to use. I'd rather have good cigars after Halloween than tainted cigars before. I'm sure they'll all be fine as long as they're taken out the boxes, however what if I wanted to collect the series in full, sealed boxes?

I'm not so sure that the cigars might not be tainted. I don't think I'm going to have anything to do with them.

Doc.

For what it's worth, I smoked a Drac last night and didn't get even a hint of varnish smell/taste once I lit it. I think after another week or two in the cooler the smell will be gone completely. I still, however, think the release method used was terrible.

I bought another brand of cigars that had the same problem with a strong lacquer smell. I removed them from their box and they were fine in a couple of weeks.

I agree with BBS, I think rushing these to market may have been a mistake, but hell they probably sold all of them and people will likely continue to chase the special release products.

What would have been wrong with stapling some cheap velvet like material instead of the red paint? That would have look better IMO

They're cigar boxes, not props in a cheap 70's porn flick!

It is funny that special release now equates to good/desirable. I mean you could say the same thing about the Cuban special releases/humis/books but imo they originally didn't start that way.

I was thinking this same thing. Besides, how many mfg'ers paint the inside of a cedar box?

I think holding them before the dry date would have shown their true quality control.

Glad I'm not the only one thinking that. No need for me to chase down a single stick when there are tons of solid ones within arms reach. To me it just adds to a growing cigar snob culture, IMHO.

Nice to know where Pete's priorities are..... jeez, delay the release and ruin the hype or get the product out while the cigars absorb solvents being leached from uncured lacquer.

This is a fitting end to a ridiculous marketing scam. But hey, just tell the lemmings to let them air out, no problem.

Hey Pete - What VOC's are used in that lacquer from the box manufacturer in Nicaragua?

You guys better slow down on the trash talk on Tatuaje, Tmoney might get upset! :0

Pete just posted on Facebook that Tatuaje will buy back any Drac or Boris boxes if your not satisfied with 'em. Don't have a link or anything, though.

Anyone happier now? :)
