Gymkhana's are a very old motorsport.
In the text part of the vid (I know, everyone just looks at the pictures), mention is made of (American) "Autocross," which is very common in the United States, as it offers much of the thrill of gymkhana, but can be done in a stadium parking lot. You can probably find an event close to you pretty much every weekend - check out "Solo" at scca.com (Sports Car Club of America). There are classes for all kinds of cars, including stock FWD Mazda's.
Being Canadian, it is too cold for doing this on pavement right now - doing this stuff on ice in the winter starts in January
