A Rant regarding US Postal Service

For the last few years I have been using US Postal Exclusively for all my packages. With my Jerky and BBQ business, I have sent out A LOT of packages. For the most part, I have been very happy with their services etc. Occasionally a package would get lost, etc.

Lately they have been sucking the big one. In the last 2 months, I have had numerous occasions where 2-3 day priority mail packages have taken up to a week to get to their destination. The latest excuse I have seen is that the package was "Misrouted" It is really starting to get costly as well. A lot of the contents I send need to be delivered within that 2 day time period...not sit over a weekend somewhere. So lately I have been doing a lot of Replacement orders or refunds.

I realize this is all part of business, but I'm really starting to wonder what the hell is going on. WAY too many packages getting screwed up or lost.

anyone else have any problems???

dont get me started...too late..

Im still dealing with a busted humidor from last December. No one seems to know anything...Imagine that.

I can’t help but wonder if this isn’t the long awaited after effects of gas prices. The price hick has been happening for a long time before they raised there prices accordingly. I have this feeling they had to downsize some of there resources in order to stay afloat and things are finally starting to give because of that. I haven’t been to impressed as of late myself.

I buy gizmo's from a couple of chinese companies now and then and get the treat of standing in line for 20 minutes while he/she goes slowly to the the other side of the 40,000 sf building to get each persons package. even though 8 of the 10 people in line all have the same orange pickup tag in hand she does one at a time. NOTHING ruins a new stuff fun like a trip to the USPS.

They are probably sub contracting with DHL. I know for a fact they use Fed-Ex here in RI for all the overnight and priority stuff, saw the USPS loading a Fed-Ex truck one night.

The USPS strives for an 80% success rate. Somebody has got to be in that 20%.

Doc.

They have always sucked...........it's just worse now! But at least the price is higher!

I order cigars from Tower Cigars and they get here the next day by regular mail, when I need them ASAP for sure I had Mark send them Express Mail, they took 3 days

Any problems? Do you mean other than the 2 packages I've received completely empty?

USPS sucks

I have had numerous problems over the past few months. I don't know if it's packages disapperaing out of my mailbox for pickup or things just not getting delivered at all.

C&S doesn't register until after it's hit it's destination so I can't be 100% sure.

I run a very successful Magic company, and for the first couple of years, we used the USPS exclusively. However, after a bad span of experiences like you described, we opened our own UPS account and now offer that to our customers. We let them choose either UPS or USPS, but we inform them that only UPS is insured because it comes with tracking. Anything shipped with USPS will not be recovered if lost because it can't be tracked (and because of their "I dont care" attitude).

So basically, we leave the decision in the hands of the customer. If they want to spend a few bucks more and have some assurance that their package will get delivered on time (and be tracked), they can choose UPS. Otherwise, if they're trying to save a buck and take a calculated risk, they can choose USPS.

That may not work for you, but so far, it's working for our current business model.

On click n ship where it says "Priority -- 2-3 days" there should really just be a big question mark. Or maybe a little wheel you can click and spin that randomly decided the final destination for your package.

Walk into your post office and look at the people behind the counter. Need I say more?

There's a mailman somewhere eating jerky and smoking cigars.

I try to use UPS all I can, never did care for the USPS.

Erick, I'm really sorry to hear about all your problems. I ship out several hundred packages each week and I haven't had any problems getting coffee out.
You might want to call your local Post Master, get his (or her) ass on the phone and file a complaint...also, email the Post Master General with the same info. If I were you I wouldn't take this sitting down.

Good luck brother!

They have been pretty damn good in the past. Like I said, its just the last couple months they have been screwing up. We shall see...I sent out a big package full of goodies to a member here yesterday. It SHOULD arrive there friday...
