Cipro is nasty nasty sh|t!

I spent about 6 months after taking Cipro recovering from it. I was prescribed it after I had contracted Giardia on a backpacking trip. (never trust anyone else to filter your water for you).

Cipro is a Fluoroquinolone and there are many support groups and forums on the web for people who have experienced among other things Adverse Psychiatric Reactions from these antibiotics.

Cipro gave me a very bery bad psychiatric reaction. What is worse is my family doctor was quite dismissive of my sypmtoms/concerns; he started asking me if I was taking any all natural weight loss products thinking I was just hopped up on ephedrine/guarana. I got a new doctor following his negligance. He treated me like a hypocondriac even though I only visited the moron once a year.

I experienced the joy of Generalized Anxiety Disorder quite severly for 3 months and for a total of around 6 months after using Cipro. Xanax controlled the anxiety when it got bad, but I was also constantly worried about becoming addicted to the Xanax so I switched to slower working but non addicting Anti Anxiety drugs.
It took me a while to figure out what was going on, I finally found information on the web. That God for search engines!

The politician turned actor, Ben Stein said in an interview that he had become suicidal following taking Cipro. I really pity all of the people who had to take Cipro following the Antrhax spore scares a few years back..

On a better note, I think Bill has the right attitude. I love emailing people like the Russian bride and Nigerian money scammers from a special email address I keep just for people like them.
