I recently purchased a Kingchii 2200 and it came with a built-in active humidification system. The water reservoir has a fabric-like filter that, after 3 weeks of usage, I'm starting to see small dark blue spots developed. I removed the filter and washed it with hot soapy water but the blue spots remained - This tells me that these blue spots aren't molds but just maybe smudges.
Well, I don't want to take any chances so here is my question - For anyone using active humidification, is the filter even needed? In fear of molds, I want to see if I can ditch the filter and just pour water alone into the reservoir.
