Here's my honest review:
Don't know anything about the brand other than the name is recognizable to me. Bought them because they are corona-esq size....I generally like the smaller ring gauge cigars because they smoke quicker and I don't have time to sit for a proper hour and a half for a bigger cigar - generally speaking. I also bought them because they were listed as medium to full which is right in my wheelhouse. As I thought about how to do this review and how to word it, I sort of came up with my own rating system - and thought I'd explain it to you so you'd know why....
Wrapper: It was fine. No blemishes, etc. It was smooth. (A plus) It looked fragile but wasn't. (the best kind) Cap was nice, nothing to complain about with the wrapper. 3 pts, automatic. (10 point rating system here)
Burn: Was in a hurry to get somewhere and torched the end a little uneven and thus, it started smoking uneven. What impressed me: I gave it a few minutes to see if it would self correct - all the good ones do - and sure enough, it self corrected and burned literally perfect the rest of the way. I never had to touch it up. Furthermore, it passed my "gotta run into the store" test...... I set it in the back of my pickup truck bed still lit while I walked into the grocery store to grab a few items. Now, I didn't dilly dally around in the store, I got what I went in for, checked out, grabbed the cigar.....and it was still lit. Another 3 points. Automatic.
Flavor: - Leather the whole way. Started off as wet leather and not exactly appealing to my tastes but I gave it time to develop. The wet leather turned to a more dry leather, the smoke was fine, draw was as about as perfect as could be.....but leather. Definitely leather. I was hoping for some "spice" in there but it was not meant to be. Flavor never really changed from leather. - Which is fine if that's what you're into. 2 points.
Was it a good smoke? Yes. Will I enjoy the rest of what I bought? Yes. Was it a solid 8/10 for me? Yes. Will I buy again? Probably not as the flavor just wasn't what I crave in an elusive 10/10 cigar (Think Liga Privada, or Padron)
In my rating system, I'm always trying to find the next Liga or Padron, but on a budget. Closest I've come was Nica Libre box pressed short suckers, like 5x44 or something .....take the band off those and I would *SWEAR* it was a padron in a blind test. (And believe me, I'm trying to obtain more and as many as I can get on the cheap at CBid - hehe) I'd rate the Nica's at a 9.5/10 or higher for comparison.
Overall? Good smoke. 8/10 - but not close enough to what I'm after as far as flavor. Would I recommend? Absolutely. Give it a shot. You might like it. Nothing to complain about really. Nothing at all.
