Definitely a nice pickup! But the real question is will they actually sign him after this season to a long term contract? I believe he is a free agent after this season
He is a free agent after this season.
This is an excellent trade if one or both of the following things happen:
1. They go to the world series
2. They are able to sign Teixeira after the season is over.
Its a bad trade if neither happens. Kotchman is a excellent first basemen and is finding his bat this year. To lose him for a 2 month rental player blows.
Its a good time to be an Angels fan. Best record in baseball, huge division lead, excellent road record, kicking the crap outta the team that has constantly given us problems in the past, one of the best starting rotations in baseball and now a legitimate power hitter and gold glove first basemen.
