Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome!

I'm looking forward to exploring the variety of cigars out there, and trying to narrow down my preferences while at the same time perhaps growing my palate as well.

I'm just about as sure as one can get that the ISOM's I picked up in Jamaica were the real deal. The store I bought them from was an actual cigar/tobacco shop, not one of those thousands of t-shirt stands or vendors that sell the wooden carvings with the big d**ks! And he was very upfront about the authenticy of his cigars, even producing invoices and packing slips for his inventory. And upon further investigation once I arrived home, the bands are all perfect matches to the comparison photos I've seen online, and the boxes had all the right seals and labels. The only thing I realized after the fact was that I may have paid a hefty premium for what I got.

Anyways, I'm really hoping to get to know what I like that is made by non-embargoed cigar companies, so I can have what I like all the time! My overall impression so far is that isom's may be the prize possesion for most, but that doesn't mean the a fine hand rolled cigar from the Dominican Republic or Honduras isn't really good too.

Welcome to CP! Search on some of the threads there is a great wealth of info on ISOMs and non ISOMs.

Welcome Gonz, Your quest has brought you to the Holy Grail of fine cigars. Enjoy your stay.

Lived in Fricken Cold, MN for the first 27 years of my life. Finally learned my lesson, frostbite on my fingers after changing the fowled spark plugs in 40 below wind chill.

Welcome from Vegas!

Let's see...

This is the first (and only) cigar board I belong to, however I am Gonz on a couple of other subject matter boards.

And I've also lived in several of the locales listed so far as well:

Grew up mostly in NJ - Randolph,
Moved back to the midwest after high school to play hockey, in MN,
Spent a year in Vegas at the beginning of my wife's residency,
Lived in Denver (Castle Rock specifically) for the last 3 years,
and now am back in southern MN, Mankato.
And my folks live in DeBary FL, in between Orlando and Daytona.

Good times everywhere!

I'm fairly certain that the Gonz on cbid works for Cigars International.

It was only 40 below wind chill, so were you changing the spark plugs on the motorcycle?

I spent a year in Vegas, living out in Summerlin off of Rampart by the ice rink. Good times, if medical malpractice wasn't such a disaster out there, we might consider moving back.

I believe they are addressing that situation. Nothing like losing a majority of experienced physicians to get things going. I played in a softball league at the sports park next to the rink. Sucky fields, but a lot of fun. Now live off of Durango and 95, past the Sante Fe.
