I roasted for a few years - started off with a FR8, and then moved to a HotTop... I have not done it in about 3 years with going to grad school and then having our son a year ago - I just don't have the time currently, but will definitely start back up again as things change.
You will definitely find that you will develop a taste for quality coffee, and no longer stand for ordering roasted coffee somewhere and getting a bag of overroasted oily beans!
Have fun, and keep a log of your roasts, and what you thought of the results so that you can reproduce what you like.
