I always thought it would be neat to jump in the icy water on New Years but I can't find a local club. Just not fun if one or I would just walk down to the canoe launch and ....

We would do that every time we got drunk in Iceland
Turn 40 Marines lose with nothing to do but drink and crazy shit happens

I did one of these type things a couple of years ago during a local charity function. -5* air temp and -15* windchill. The waters of Lake Superior actually felt warm in comparison to the air temp.

I won't be doing it again.

Your one bad man! Who pulled you out?

One of the local weathermen and a firefighter. They helped everyone out because as soon as you hit that water every muscle in your body tightens and you can't breathe. It was actually painful and we were only in for a few seconds. If it weren't for the charity aspect of the whole thing I never would have done it.

They canceled it the next year because it was too cold. It was 10* warmer than the year we took the plunge.
