I got an mail from a vendor (quoted below) reference the ESGs. Does anyone have any concrete information on the actual release?

FROM "Your friends at Jack Schwartz Importer"

"Rumor has it that there is a possible release time on the Ashton ESG. Certain sources say the Ashton Estate Sun Grown may be shipping near the end of May or early June. We at Jack Schwartz Importer would like to make these available to customers patiently waiting on our backorder list.

We are trying something a little new with these extremely rare cigars by offering the chance to purchase up to two Ashton ESG cigars now for shipment at a later date. This is a chance to secure up to two of the most desirable cigars yet to hit the market.

There is no word on the amount of cigars we will be getting so we will be filling orders on a first come, first served basis. Though we do not like to place limits on the amount of cigars you are able to purchase we have tried to come up with a way to ensure as many customers as possible get their hands on these rare cigars.

The Ashton Estate Sun Grown is a Dominican cigar with a wrapper never before seen on a cigar. The Fuentes have grown a Dominican Sun Grown wrapper that should make these cigars well worth the wait. We do not have a price on these as of yet but we believe them to be priced between $15 and $25. They measure 6 3/4x49.

If you would like to secure up to two Ashton ESG cigars we ask that you please call or email with all the information we would need to ship the cigars. The information we need is: NAME, SHIPPING ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER, & CREDIT CARD NUMBER (Visa, Master Card, or American Express). "

Damn, I just called and gave 10 stolen credit card #'s, hopefully all the stix come :) But seriously, maybe the end of this month but hoping by Christmas. It will be like a little extra something in the stocking.

Wonder what kind of $$ it will take to get a few. My boss is put me on the look out for some when released. :D

I don't know. A reasonable guess might be that MSRP would be 50% more than the same-sized VSG cigar, so perhaps $15 a cigar for the churchill *might* be MSRP (not including state tobacco tax and sales tax). I'm just completely guessing here, they could end up being more.

And also, of course, with a cigar like this, it's possible that vendors will gouge to an extent. Who knows.

Nice page on the ESG, Moki.

I have a question though, what the hell is "nose spice"? Gotta love those CA/CI reviewers terms..

Those guys must have a thesaurus on hand when they get to writing. I can't wait to get my hands on a few of these that is for sure..

I'm guessing $500 a box, but they can probably get $800 because of all the marketing tricks.

I'm sure it was a rhetorical question, but "nose spice" makes me think of the sensation from hot mustard, wasabi, or horseradish. The spicy sensation that you feel in your nasal passages rather than the palate.

If it is $800 a box, then the people you should direct your ire towards would be the retailer charging that amount... because they certainly won't be that expensive from Ashton, and Ashton doesn't see a dime of the money that a shop gouges you for. Authorized dealers pay cigar distributors the one fixed wholesale price, whatever they sell the cigars at, the profit is theirs, nothing goes to Ashton.
