Anybody find themselves driving slower when they are smoking a cigar.



I know I do. I fire one up, tune to channel 73 on the XM dial, ease over to the slow lane and putz along. Never find myself in a hurry or experiencing any harsh feelings when someone cuts me off.

Just something I noticed on the way to pick up dog food this evening.

I always end up stuck in rush hour traffic.

So lately I find that a nice cigar makes the commute bearable! :whistling:

Nope I still go 70 in the fast lane when I can. Usually it is around 15 in the fast lane. I don't get pissed though, so I have that going for me GG So Cal

Oh yeah I do. I have a commute of between 45 mintues to an hour. If I am not smoking, i drive liek a bat out of hell, averaging between 85 to 90 mph on the highway. If I light a cigar (especially one I really want to enjoy), i slow right down to the low 70's, don't mind gettnig cut off, or sitting behind some putz who can't find the gas pedal. I don't mind the 1hr, 10 mintue commute because I am enjoying ever minute of it. Days I hit the highway only to see a red river of tailights stretching out in the traffic in front of me, I praise the cigar gods that I remembered my traveldor....or curse myself if i didn't.

I hear ya...Jacksonville, NC has the worst traffic I have ever seen...and I grew up in New York...

Edit: To answer the original question; I drive fast ALL the time no matter what I am doing.

heh guess I’m fortunate enough to live in WI, traffic is never that terrible. Although I do putz around when I’m smoking. I do enjoy watching the people cut me off and go flying by when I know were the cops always sit (there very predictable around here and yet it works).

Besides, if I drive too spirited, I wind up crushing the cigar in my hand between the steering wheel.

I love having a smoke in the car on the way home. Makes me forget about the work day.

with all the road construction here in the chicagoland area the only way to survive is with a stogie. cigars are prozak for the tensions on the road!

I definitely drive slower with a cigar in my hand.
The ride home from work is 45 min without cigar and about 1 hour with a cigar.
I like to sit back and savor it.

AGREED! I've actually had my wife put a cigar in my mouth and hand me a lighter on long trips just to get me to settle down!

I just bought a convertible so I can open the top and enjoy my cigar while sitting in traffic on the way home each evening.

On some days, when the traffic is light, I get home before my cigar is done. I'll sometimes just keep driving until I'm finished.

Last time I did this, I tried something different (with regards to how I have the air circulating in the car). Driving from Hudson NY to Wappinger Falls NY, I lit up my first ever Cuaba Distinguido. At first, I had the passenger front window open for some sort of air circulation. Bad move on my part as I was noticing some canoeing and lack of taste in my smoke (all the puffs were heading out the window and none were being savored). I then decided to cut my speed, close the windows and basically stew in the primordial ooze coming from my cigar. To this day I rank that experience as the best of all the cigars I've smoked in the car.

anybody else do this (with regards to closing the windows while driving to savor the flavor?)

Jacksonville, NC has bad traffic?!?!? :0 Was there a cow in front of you or did a tractor cut you off? Maybe a pig truck crashed and caused a 20 minute traffic jam. Dude I've beeen to jacksonville, NC (my father in law is from there) and there isn't any traffic. Jeez, Florida would have you shootin other cars!
