The Ron Zacapa XO? I was looking on the Ministry of Rum and on Google, and I can't find anyplace in the US of A that sells it. Interestingly, my father was in Total Wine yesterday and they had it for $95 bucks so he picked a bottle up.

If you like the regular Ron Z you will love this. It is a bit pricey but it is worth it.

I have been reading a lot on differant Rum's the past few days, wanting to try something other than my
trusty standard "Old Monk" which is really my favorite.

I havent decided what I am getting yet. Perhaps you can follow up with your impressions?

A little more about this spirit:

Ron Zacapa XO is made of rums aged from 6 to 25 years. The product is aged in bourbon, sherry and Pedro Ximenez casks, and it's finished in French oak barrels. I wasn't using my usual tasting glass so I didn't detect much from the nose. As for the taste, this stuff is ambrosia! It's smoother than the 23, similarly sweet, but more complex. The price at Total Wine was $89 and the 23 was $34. Was it worth 2.6 times the price? That's tough to say. As a Scotch/Bourbon collector and drinker, $89 is in my upper average price range. This means I believe it's worth keeping a bottle around, but only as a special occasion drink. For the person who drinks mostly rum however, the price of Zacapa XO might be more than they're willing to spend when other great rums can be found for a third of the price.
