Anyone play darts?

I used to be on a SOFT DART team over here, but it just got too expensive.

10€ weekly dues

20€ buy in weekly (since you have to pump money into the boards to play

50+€ weekly bar tab :p (heh I used to like to drink alot ;) )

+ whatever money that was needed to play every two weeks at a tournement

Just became way too rich for my blood, so I still throw once in a while but only for fun.

I hung a board up in the garage about 2 months ago and comfirmed that I haven't improved any over the years. :0

I got the dartboard from marlboro a few years ago and I play all the time. I usually throw a few at that board everyday. I use to play as a kid and then a few bar leagues. It's the best game. I love when people say I get better as I drink.

I have an electronic "sissy" dart board in the basement. Its been some time since I've played it (funny how this happens when you have a fiance!!!). I was never good at a "dry" game (dry meaning without alcohol imbibement). However, I can tell you that my "wet" game is pretty good!

Now, if I get good enough, playing for cigars might not be a bad way to increase the dozier of cigars to enjoy!

I used to play in college in a "C" league here in Tucson. I too had a similar experience as you Bill. Guy I was playing against had 59 points on me in Cricket, all numbers except bullseye was closed and him with just a single bulls to close out the game. I stepped up and hit a hat trick. Got my 3 bulls to close it and 75 points for the additional 3 Bulls. One of only 2 times that I hit a hat trick, and the only time in competition. Never did hit a T80. Best points turn I had was to open a 301 with a double 20 and (2) trip 20s.

BTW, our team name was The StrayVectors. Strayvector was always my handle on the net and I thought it was a perfect name for a dart team, especially with all the X outs we used to get.

I used to have my own Raven bristle board, balanced 118g darts and case. We would play after work in downtown Milwaukee for drinks and money. Triple bulls, trips in and out. Ahh those were the days. I used to have to switch hands to play with friends. But alas that was years ago.

My wife and I used to play "soft tip" darts all the time. Most taverns / "watering holes" around here have a board or three. Some time ago, I splurged on a really nice set of tungsten darts. Got to say I haven't played in years.

My crowning game was one afternoon when I'd blown off work for the PM, had lunch at the tav and had been playing darts for a couple of hours. That was OK but I knew the bar staff and my libations had kept coming, gratis. I had reached the point where I knew driving wasn't a good idea and had called my wife to come get me. As I'm packing up my darts, some "kid" asks me for one more game. I tell him no thanks, it's been a long afternoon, etc. He says something like "oh, chicken, eh? I'll even let you go first...." and out came the darts. The game was cricket, and I walked up to the line and threw one of the only two "hat tricks" (three bulls) I've ever thrown in my life on my first turn. Without any cheering or arm waving, I retrived my darts and looked him in the eye and said ".....your turn." He was pretty quiet for the rest of the game and I tore him up pretty well.

Damn....that was sweet.....

Cheers - B.B.S.
