I was looking for some info on some bundled cigars today and couldn't find it so I thought I'd start a thread to post quick questions about no name, new, bundled, proprietary, and regional cigars that you would only be able to get from a fellow CPer that has actually tried the. I'll try and keep track of the list here in the 1st post by updating it, that way you won't have to read through the entire post. ;) Just post if you've tried them and we can all learn. If you're interrested in learning about an off brand make your post & see what others say. THIS IS FOR NON-MAINSTREAM SMOKES ONLY. NO NATIONAL BRANDS. Make detailed reviews in seperate thread. :)

First up:
Ran accross THESE, good price and I know it's stupid but, the only reason I l;ooked at them is the name. They are named after a town I used to live in and my Grandfater grew up in, Biarritz. They're about $40/bundle of 25 for the Perfectos. I know they might be a shop/yard gar but what the heck. GB??

Bruce as usual, you are correct. I was looking to get some feedback on the Biarritz cigars, they are a bundled cigar. Couldn't find anything on them. Then I thought other peoplpe might want info on other unknown bundled, proprietary, and regional brands. I'll try again in the am. Check back mid afternoon. :D I'm open to more input.

I reckon its a roll of the dice, huh? You have me curious now. As bundles go, I have 3 in my regulars list. Connie #9, Bahia B, and GR Special Black pyramids. I'd trade you something for Biarritz, or might just order some.

We have some regional ones around here from time to time...mostly some Kentucky farmer who has decided to take a shot at making cigars out of cigarette or chewing tobacco burley. Most are pretty darn cheap but also pretty darn bad. The last one I had was a Kentucky Black Gold cigar with the wrapper from the Bluegrass State but the balance of the cigar from other nations (it didn't really say where but I gathered that they were machine made in some place like Puerto Rico). I also had some called El Dorado but I couldn't get information on those.

I appreciate the fact that the guys in Kentucky are trying to make cigars but I can say that the one I had S-U-C-K-E-D! If you want some information for these regional products, I would be happy to provide some!

Never tried Biarritz although they look interesting (I'm a sucker for figurados).

While I haven't lived in Tampa since around 1998, I still enjoy going back and seeing the folks. I tried two local cigar brands and plan to buy more when I go back in August:

Herencia de Cuba
I know I had a Yellow label perfecto, and while I don't see it listed I'm fairly certain the other was a short torpedo-Red label. The roller is an old Cuban gentleman.

Gonzalez Habano Cigar Co
I bought a sampler from this place (and for those of you familiar with Tampa, it's across the street from La Terecita-mmmm!) but one of the cigars ended up having two beetles in it so I didn't smoke any of them and vowed never to return there. However, my father, remembering I bought from them before, bought me two Oramas (Rothschild) and two Bazarte (I think that's right) Rothschilds. Both were decent and packed so full they were actually kind of tight on the draw. The owner is a historian I think. The company rolled the world's longest cigar last year (Arturo Fuente Jr of Tampa Sweethearts was a judge). And yes, I think I will buy from them again.

I haven't tried Rodriguez y Menendez cigars yet but will hopefully do so in August. Tampa Humidor carries a house brand called Conquista which I have heard good things about. It's made by Rocky Patel. Again, come August...
