Are Credit Card safe to use with cigar orders?

I have an urge to say wrong forum but that is just because I don't understand what/why you are asking. As the retailer don't you see the credit card numbers, and for phone orders even write them down?

Sorry but I disagree with you completely cigpoofter. When I mail order cigars, I send cash and coins in a plain envelope. I trust the USPS far more than a bunch of crooked credit card companies. Either that or use I eGold.

Yeah, that's kind of the point. Credit cards are fine to use and the only option when ordering online. Make sure you're with a bank that has good fraud protection and you'll be fine either way. Most ATM/Debit "checkcards" don't have any fraud protection, so check on that, too.

Yeah, that's kind of the point. Credit cards are fine to use and the only option when ordering online. Make sure you're with a bank that has good fraud protection and you'll be fine either way. Most ATM/Debit "checkcards" don't have any fraud protection, so check on that, too.

NO. Nothing is safe.

Each and everytime you put your credit card out there, even a to purchase something from a local store such as Duane Reade, you risk identity theft. There is no such thing as "safe", especially when the information network is so vast and expansive, and your address can be googled, your passwords can be phished, and added to that the incompetence and corruption within financial institutions. Many gateways, credit card bureaus, and businesses do offer protection and added security measures to ensure discretion of the credit card numbers, but to say anything is safe is unjustified. Some invoices I have seen, not neccessarily concerning cigars, have credit card numbers on them.

I said you'd be fine, not safe. You can hole up in your bunker and shut down contact with the rest of the world if that makes you feel safe or you can accept some risk, get good fraud protection measures on your cards and live your life.

The evidence seems to agree with CC and you Dave. Every time you put the information out there the risk increases. The question boils down to how much risk exposure each one is willing to take. :thumbs:

He's a famous computer scientist. He, along with me and many others feel more comfortable sending cash through the mail since we don't trust credit cards.

I am a tech kinda geek.(its my job) I have my wirless router secure. I bank with a great institution that protects me. I pay almost all my bills online.

I have paid for many cigars from Thompson (whom I have never seen a reference here)
I now buy from other sources I have found from this site and have had no problem

I just use a regular envelope and wrap the cash in one or two pieces of paper. Sometimes I tape the coins to the paper inside the envelope and sometimes I do not.
