We had an open house at our maple syrup operation this past weekend for the annual Maple Sugar Festival. Everything was humming at a good clip. Lot's of steam to impress and the smell of maple was in the air. And then it happened, some city slicker with his LL Bean plaid shirt and chinos asks, "Why don't you folks do this during Tourist Season? I'm sure you'd get a big turn out." I just shook my head and walked away.

My wife and I spend quite a bit of our vacation time in Vermont.  It's one of our favorite places, which is why we married in Stowe.  We try to visit in different times of year to experience different things and everytime we are happy with what the land had to offer.

There's always a plethora of things to do/see no matter what time of year you go.

I've got an idea for you Doc.  How about you change the tourist season to coincide with the maple syrup season!!!  Brilliant!!!

Stop being so grouchy and take his obvious sage advice Hank.

Just think of all the money you could make, with T-shirts/coffee mugs/koozies/etc!  We all know the maple business is 100% profit!

Yeah Hank, it's all about the easy money of the maple syrup biz...and I'm sure Mr. City Slicker was asking for dark amber this time of year.

Morons are morons Doc but please; are you telling us you don't own a LL Bean plaid shirt and chinos?

Ha ha ha... I thought of you this weekend Doc. Sadly I didn't get out to visit a few stands. Good luck this season.

Gives a whole new meaning to the word sap.
:D

That may be the origin of "sap" as a derogatory! ;)

It sure isn't from sapient.

I'm sure if you talk nicely to the maple trees, they will gladly change their sap run to a later date that coincides with the tourist season Doc......
