I stopped at my local B&M today, which is rare, but I was driving by. He had several Anejo #50s. Several of the sticks had alot of white spots at the cap under the cello. I was looking for some oily cigars, but was not sure what the white chunks were. Didn't look like mold though.

Any one have some ideas? I searched but didn't find much (although my search skills suck)

He also had 6-7 Opus "A" coffins for $99 each! Gave him crap for it.

He would be happy to give me a lesson in something I am sure. As soon as I opened that cabinet they were in, it didn't smell right.

Searched Plume to give me a refresher....but when I searched white spots on cigar I did not get much! Then in taking out the word cigar helped a little.

Mold. The wrappers on the anejo's are highly susceptable to mold. Search is your friend here.....
Exactly. Even under perfect storage conditions, if they were packed a bit on the "wet" side, you're in trouble. Bought a box of sharks a couple years back from a well known dealer that grew blue hair in the feet in a couple of months in my cabinet. Turns out that year, there was a rash of anejo mold issues.

Small white spots on the wrapper are not a good sign. I'll bet under the cedar it's a real mess.

Now, when I get a box of Anejo's in, I pull the cello and cedar so I can keep an eye on 'em. Only smokes that get that treatment.

Good luck - B.B.S.

Sounds like mold to me.
