I remember doing something similar, only now everyone has to be in the huddle, one guy just stood on the side lines close to the out of bounds line and ran down field to catch a touchdown. Of course it was our only touchdown, we weren't that good. But it was quite a thrill! :laugh:

It is legal, borderline cheating, but legal. My sons team did that about 6 years ago, same exact play. I was totally embarrassed for him and his team to have to resort to that kind of play to win a game, which it did. It just doesn't set a good precedent for todays youth.

Although I do not think the boy's team would have a play like this, I have seen it before...and it is legal. He will be aware that if he is on defense and see's this happening, he should drop his position and follow that QB!

Very legal and not even "borderline" cheating in my opinion. "Trick" plays and misdirection have been a staple of football from PeeWee to the Pros. Like any good play, it is all dependent on misdirection.
The only thing I did not like about this particular play was that the coach was participating. I would have preferred that the coach was silent throughout.
We had similar plays in youth and high school football. Of course you can only do them one and then the entire league will know. But having an "ace in the hole" when you need it is always a good thing.
