You can't make this stuff up
One of the things that has been lacking in my brief cigar hobby and that I've found at CP is the sense of cameraderie that comes from enjoying and sharing cigars. I enjoy visiting friends in Pittsburgh because we share cigars and go to a nice little shop in the Strip District (not THAT kind of strip district, unfortunately) that has a lounge area. This was something that I lack here in Erie Country because no such place exists, or so I thought.
I went to a microbrew tasting on Saturday. That was fun, because I got to try several regional beers and fell in love with one. While I was there, I started chatting with a guy who was enjoying a cigar. Turns out he owns a shop in a near-by town only 10 miles from my house. I had seen it, but hadn't stopped in. Chatting turned to talking. He started the shop two years ago and, among other things, he had a lounge! The only one in the county. We ended up going back to his shop where he introduced me to several of his friends and the most comfortable overstuffed leather chairs I've ever been in. As it seems to be the case with most BOTL's, even though I had just met these people, everybody made me feel welcome and accepted. We stayed there smoking (finally got to try a Decade), enjoying beverages, pigging out on chicken wings and BSing until 12:30 in the morning. He even donated some sticks for Tasman after I told him about the care package that's being assembled.
I now have a home away from home to go and share in person what I have on-line. And come next pass and noob/FOG war season, I'll be much better prepared.
Awesome weekend!
