Well, i get home, take care of some 'housekeeping', and since it's such a nice day, head out to the deck. My initial cigar is a La Aurora Emerald. Great pre-light taste, draw is tight, and after lighting and smoking (trying to) i chunk it, terrible 'hot spot' running down the center, then down the side, really pissed me off. Next cigar is a Opus FF from 05, same deal, smoke for 20 min then chunk, can't keep lit. Last, but not least, is a Opus #5, great cigar!

Ever have any of these days?

I thought from the title that you were going to say beatles - no bad mojo.

Sorry to hear two great cigars with problems. Maybe a humidification issue (not rotating stock or too close to humidification element)? I have had that problem and try to not dwell on it and go for something that will make me forget about that.

Better luck with the pricey sticks next time. Grab a go to cigar and try and forget.

Yes, though thankfully it has been a while, and it was with much lower-rent sticks!

Sounds like you found the only cure: just keep on trying til you get one that smokes right!

Everyone's had those days. Sucks when you get it started and know it is the right cigar at the right time but it won't stay lit. I think on those smokes I woudla kept trying though. Bad weather here, no smoking tonight.

Yeah, I had a Petite Tat that was basically plugged and then moved onto a CAO Brazilia Amazon that tunneled (as I like to say, burned like a crayon...see if you can figure that out) badly. That is the closest I can get.

It reminds my what my four year old daughter once told me after I had a bad day, ...Abba, life happens". Out of the mouth of babes!! Your next ones will smoke great!!

Yep, it happens. Sorry to hear about it though, Frank.

The worst string of bad cigars I've ever fired up was three. I ended up smoking five altogether because I got so pissed at having to cut and chuck so many. Lately my luck has been better. Yours will turn up too.

Wilkey

I thought I'd break out a nice cigar to celebrate the life of one of my former professors murdered at Virginia Tech, Liviu Librescu. That Davidoff Millennium toro was the worst cigar I've ever tried to smoke. I couldn't get it to stay lit (tunneling) and the whole thing tasted like crap. I've never had a bad cigar out of my humi until this one. It made a bad day worse.

The 3rd was the charm. Tunneling, that's what these cigars had, didn't have the proper terminology applied! Those tunnels piss one off don't they

Last Sat. I got home from pulling O.T. at work. Started out pretty good but I went to burn an Opus robusto and it was plugged to the bejesus. I ran a kabob skewer through it and it burned a little but closed back up again. What ya gonna do ya know? Smoked an AVO 80. GOOD STUFF.

He was a hero. We are having a memorial service for him in NYC. I think he will be buried here. He truly was a hero. I saw his son interviewed in Israel and he said he expected it of his father. He said his father was not the type of man who could save himself and let others die. As I understand it, he took some rounds in the chest to save his class of students. A real hero in anyone's book. I will smoke one for him. It must have been a privelege to learn with him. :( A real loss, all of them.
