I heard a very short news story the other day about the possible banning of ahat they called "Candy Flavored" cigars and cigarillos due to teh fact that they are intentionally and obviously marketed toward children!

Now I am not a big flavored cigar fan ( I will take a few puffs off of my wife's) but this is stupid. From what I have seen they are not using silly cartoon characters (ie. Joe Camel) or placing the ads on Nickelodeon or in schools, nor are they legally sold to minors so what is the big deal.

Anyone heard this story yet? Comments?

I'll bet some over zealous bureaucrat is looking at the flavored phillies thinking he can ban them and then the 'kids' will have to find some other way to smoke their 'chronic'.

LOL  Chronic would be the Mary Jane.

And to me, "Kama Sutra sunsplash" (Or wahtever those things are called) and "Moontrance" seem to target a more 'feminine' demographic.

Do you know what this would do to the cigar industry?

even if you dont like flavored cigars which i dont this could cripple some shops.

not to sound political but get out and vote if this comes to your town!!!!

Yes I am calling you female...I prefer the Eileens Dreams myself lol

I was going to say that Chronic was most likely some new cigar from Drew Estate.

I don't know who is in charge of their marketing, but smoking a cigar call "Acid" just doesn't evoke thoughts of smooth from me.

And I've never seen a flavored cigar that was actually a flavor that kids should know or like. Such as Bailey's, or how about a cognac dipped?

AND . . .

What would they say constitutes a "candy" flavored cigar? Natural Root by Drew Estate? Karmasutrasplash? Vanilla? Java by Drew Estate and Rocky Patel? All of the ACID line? What about cheaper cigars that sweeten the tips?

Hell I remember "smoking" bubble gum cigars and cigarettes when I was a kid. Never thought much about it except "Cool CANDY!" I ususally chowed the gum so quick I didn't even pretend to "smoke" it.

But alas the government in its infinite wisdom in deciding what is best for all of us stupid people decided that such novelties were teaching us to be smokers and those candies are no more. Now, in addition to the anti-smoking tobacco nazi group, the government is controlling what we can and cannot eat! Passing legislation on the presence (or lack thereof) of vending machines in schools in what has been called the "No Child with a Big Behind" Act.

Oh the humanity! Where will it all end. Pretty soon we will be receiving our government issued nutrition wafer (ie Soylent Green . . . "it's people!")and walking around in pressed white smocks in a perfectly ordered society of smoke free skinny people.

SHOOT ME NOW! :sign:
