I have been a fan of baseball for as long as I remember. I grew up watching the Astros and the Rangers, and have gotten my kids involved with both teams as well.

However, I am this close to tuning out forever!

They had better find a way to avoid this upcoming strike, or I will not be back! I came back after 94, but will not should a strike occur. I think the owners have screwed themselves(Tom Hicks included) by overpaying for what I am starting to believe are the whiniest, biggest babies in the world (wait, second to pro golfers). Come on, $25 mil per year for one player!

Let me hear from you guys on what you think about the whole situation.

too many egos and not enough teamwork.
i think there should be a set salary per position and then incentives based on performance.
they should pay teachers as much!

AMEN Brothers! I went to a Braves game a couple of weeks ago. I had not been to a game in 10 or so years. If my son had not wanted to go I would not have went to this last one. After the last cry baby strike I gave up on baseball, and I have not missed it that much. :angry:

What I do not understand is how some one who is already make millions a year to play a game can whine about a few more million. :angry:

Your right gws3, we should pay Teachers, Fireamen, Policemen, EMT's, and Military personnel that much. These people are either teaching the youth of tomorrow or saving it, and they do not get paid SH!T. :angry:

I'll jumb off my soap box before I say something I shouldn't. ???
 
I can not say strongly enough, the strike Is bull****.

I mean how can anyone of us feel bad for a guys who makes a mere 12 million dollars, or the rookie who ony gets paid 1.2 million per season.

I say openly - limit the pay. But that wouldn't be the free american way..
If they want to fight over more money let them but I think htey are missing the big picture.
How silly would they look fighting over NOTHING that is left becasue the fans said screw the greedy bastards..
 
OK, the strike was averted. But, let me ask you this, what was accomplished? I personally could care less what happens this year due to a) The Rangers suck b) The Astros suck c) I hate Oakland, Yankees, and Anaheim d) I am burnt out on baseball as a whole.

Thank God football season has started. Don't get me started on how the Cowboys are playing though! Losing to an exansion team?!!!!

Hmmmm, I would agree that the Rangers suck being in the basement of their division but the Astro's are 5 games back of St Louis with about 15 games left and I believe 7 of those are against St Louis. Now I'm not saying they are going to pull off winning the division but to say a team sucks when they still have a mathmatical chance of doing it is a bit overboard.
