Basil Haydens 8yo Bourbon Whiskey

Anyone tried it before? I didn't see anything pop up when I searched for it. I saw it today next to a bottle of Knob Creek I picked up and the lady at the counter said that the same company makes both. Looked to be $37.00 a bottle before tax.

I read a little about it online and the price seems to be around msrp. Is it any good?

I've tried it and liked it (although I've met a couple I haven't liked ). AVB did a review, I don't think he was a fan.

AVB did a review, I don't think he was a fan.

That's no lie.

I expected vastly more from this bourbon as the others in the "Small Batch Collection" (Booker's, Knob Creek, and Baker's) are all fairly good bourbons. If ever there was a beginner’s bourbon, this is it. Weak neat, it almost disappears over ice or with water. Maybe it is good for a mixed drink that calls for bourbon as one of many ingredients but I doubt even that. Most likely the worst of any small batch bourbon I've ever had. Buy something else for your $28.

I always think about snagging it when I am at the store but haven't purchased much bourbon lately. Based on this review it doesn't sound like I am missing much...

Thanks for the link and input. I actually searched for it several times useing "Basil Haydens" as a search word, but "Basil Hayden's"
shows it. :blush:

Basil is an expensive mixer, there are many more reasonable Bourbons out there that taste better.
