Well, Ladies and Gentlemen....

In five short days I'll be pressing forward for my 90 days of sand and sun. Not sure what, if any, access I'll have while I'm gone, so I may or may not be around between now and '07. I hope to run into Brickhouse along the way, but we won't be co-located so that may not happen. If I'm not on, then Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. If I can pop on once in a while, I may see if I can get some participation for another stick drive for the blokes serving with me. I'll know how much, if any, hometown lovin' they've gotten when I arrive there.

Damn, how did you wind up with just a 90 day tour? I thought those were a thing of the past. I just saw my wife off this morning on her 120 day tour....and that's liable to be pushed out to 179.

Anyway, get back safe, and give a holler if you need anything! I'm familiar with customs forms. ;)
 
Well, it's a 90 day for now with a possible extension to 120, but I'm due for PME (Professional Military Education) in Jan/Feb that they want me back for, so they are planning on replacing me in Dec. We'll see how everything works out, especially since I (supposedly) will close on my new house in Jan.

Well Everyone, I made it to Haji-land safe and sound. One week down and a few more to go. All's going well here so far. if there are any takers, I may try to see if I can get a group buy going with someone willing to make the purchase and ship over here, unless Brickhouse knows of a vendor that ships out here directly. I brought out 2 boxes with me, but they seem popular and will probably not last very long.

any of the Baghdad boys can tell you. However, if you have a single source who won't ship, I, or frankly many of us here would be glad to front for you. I've shipped to the sandbox many times.

Well gang... If everything goes right, the stars align in the heavens, my replacement shows up on time and my freedom bird doesn't break down or cancel, I'll be home a month from today. Just in time for Christmas. Some quick updates since I have my 10 minutes of computer time, I just bought a house. I haven't seen it yet, but I bought it just the same. We close on 1 Dec, so when I get home I'll be using my CTO to move my mother and I from the apt to the house. It's new construction, si I'll be the first owner. I figure if my mother likes it, then I will; and if not I only have three to four more years in North Carolina and I can sell it. Beside, it can't possibly be as bad as some of the base housing I've been in <grin>.

I'll have been playing in the sand for just over ninety days with six weeks each in IR and AF. I've been PTing my 260lb fat A$$ off and have progressed from running 1.5 miles in 12 min to 5k in 23.42 if I push it, or 6.5 miles in 62.40. First time I've been able to run more than 4 miles without stopping since I shattered my ankle in '89.

Also, to get an opinion form yous guys... do y'all think I should try to get into the SS? If I did, then whoever I pulled would obviously be getting a late hit since it wouldn't ship until around Dec 20-23? I'm not sure it would be fair to make another BOTL wait on me, but it would make guessing the sender pretty easy...
