beads of ash

Hello all got another question for ya. I was recently smoking with a friend today with some cheap smokes I ended up getting in a deal with several others. The name alludes me at the moment, I can get it later. The question I have is that the ash seemed to have these small bead looking things throughout on the surface of the ash (kinda like tiny white spheres). what would cause that? The cigar was not great by anymeans, not something I personally enjoyed or would buy, But I did smoke half of it as I was enjoying the company of a friend? anyone have any ideas?
