Everyone has different tastes, but I wanted to see what you guys thought the ultimate cigar was like? What is it that gets your fire (read:lighter) going? Is it the taste? The feel? The motion? Discuss.

I get pretty turned on by the darkness of a 'gar. If it looks dark and oily, it just looks yummy to me.

Although completely aesthetic, I shamefully admit I am also attracted to a nice band. Something tells my brain that if a company took the time and effort to make a nice band, then it says something about their quality. Though this is very easily disproven.

I also like a nice toothy wrapper.

I guess overall I'm a visual guy.

Hey wasy, I thought I'd tell ya before a FOG does that the images are supposed to be a certain size. Not that big...even though she's HOT

Purely by looks, you can't beat a Davidoff with two inches of impeccable rock solid ash, perfectly even all around, with the classic white and gold band.

Yeah, Wasy's sig might be a tad large, but I'm not complaining. :sign:

I have never thought about it. I go strength taste and smoke volume. Nothing more relaxing that exhaling a huge plume of strong tasty smoke to relax me.

However I like my cigars like my coffee dark and strong...I have been known to smoke milder ones in the morning. Although I have found myself leaning towards my pipe for a mellow smoke these days.

Well I'm glad someone else said it before I did! I've thought it for a long time, but never voiced my opinion on it. Hell, look at an Opus band, tell me that doesn't just look like it'd be a great cigar. DC Maximus! What about Rocky Patel Edge.... :whistling:

But I do agree, as lame as it may be, the band is important to me. But Brick, I'd really have to agree with your whole reply!

I used to act like Brickhouse... (not that I'm trying to critisize him... not at all)... but I tried some cigars that were not that dark and oily(example: G2 and Dunhill) and they rock my world... I was very surprised that not oily and not dark cigar might deliver such a great taste and flavour.

Basically I'm attracted to cigars because their taste and flavour... not nice wrapper, great looking band, humidor quality box etc...
I guess I like to get the most pleasure for my money... and that is it

The visual aspects are what draw me to a cigar initially... dark, nicely banded, perfectos and lanceros are my weakness. But the taste and overall smoking experience are what bring me back to particular cigars on a repeat basis.

:D Good or bad all cigars atleast deserve a look. After all it is a cigar!

I must admit I have been taken in by the look of a cigar. I have learned that you can't judge a book by its cover which brings me to an example; the Hemingway naturals, look bad taste good!
