While Texas burns (again), the Northeast is going the way of Atlantis. I was just talking to my sister tonight (Luzerne County, Pennsylvania 911 dispatcher) about how bad it is getting up there. I'm flying in next Thursday, so I'm not too concerned about that by then, but by next week the damage will all have been done. Could be media fear-mongering, but she said that some stations are reporting it to be worse than in '72 with Agnes when all is said and done.

Thoughts and prayers to our BOTL's and their families, friends and interests in the area. Good luck.

*EDIT* state specification

Yea...NY, NJ, CT,VT and parts of MA(and mid-east states) were hit with Irene. Now this one is hitting NJ, PA and NY.

A buddy in north Jersey hadn't had water issues since he moved in to his place 10 year ago. Irene flooded him and this one caused more issue.

I live in Delaware county PA which is located in the very most southeastern part of PA. We were hit with Irene and then hit again with all of this rain. Many houses have had flooding but this isn't even the worst. In parts of PA there have been many water rescues taking place. I am a volunteer firefighter and our call volume is out rages. Luckily I am away at school (Centre county PA I attend Penn State) My family back home is fine though. I have never personally seen it rain like this. Not to mention it is looking like 2 more storms are coming our way. Weather wise our area has been hit hard recently. We had an earthquake a few tornadoes (Both very rare in my area) and then the hurricane all in the matter of a week.

Kann my old roommate lives in Hazelton which is in Luzerne. From a fellow PA person I hope your sister is doing fine and nothing bad is coming from this.

My sister lives in Hazelton, as well. I haven't talked to her in a day or so, as she's been very busy at work (as you know). I think they are doing OK, though. Thanks for the thoughts.

We're ok here in Philly. Irene brought some pretty serious flooding and knocked out power for a day or so, but all in all not too bad. This recent storm sort of caught us (me at least) off guard. It didn't seem that bad and then I woke up yesterday morning and everything was flooded. Half the regional rail lines were shut down and we were swimming into work again. When I got up this morning it didn't look like it was going to be too bad, but as I am writing this the sky is quickly turning black as night, so I'm guessing there's more to come.

Lucky you only lost it for a day. I know people who went several days without power.

Here is some pictures I got in an email regarding Irene alone

Yeah, we definitely got off easy compared to some. I know that NYS EMS is run out of the DOT in Troy NY (right outside of Albany) and they apparently had terrible flooding. I think they are still not completely back to normal operations yet.

This is Kelly Drive in Philly yesterday:

You got that right! I was down in Troy, NY that day and the river was terrifying !! Water can be pretty intimidating at times. Dinosaur BBQ (located on the Hudson) along with many other businesses were flooded. Most of the bridges were closed to traffic, not to mention one of D.Jeter's yachts was driven up the Hudson to escape NYC and tied off in Troy to the Collar City Bridge. I live just outside of Troy on the Wynantskill creek, and my backyard turned into the creek! Fire dept. came to pump out my basement (bad).

N'kicker, and Bayamos were over at my casa for moral support as we smoked Tat' Pork Tenderloins and watch the creek slowly creep closer to the streets and eventually my house. We were emergency evacuated for the night shortly after our smoke.

Just when I got my basement finally dried up and somewhat back together, the second batch of rain came from Lee. Yup, more flooding! The Mrs. was pretty upset, and I felt helpless. First we had an earthquake, then a Tornado touched down 35 mins. from us, Irene created a headache for all, and Lee had to come and piss all over us ! All within 2 weeks. At least I have my health and my home. Oh, and some sticks. . .
