My current stereo is over 8 years old and I've decided i want to get a new sound system. Since i got a new iPod a few months back, I want something that I can just plug my iPod into, as I have just finished loading every since one of my CD's onto it, it took two weeks. In looking around I found the Bose SoundDock (http://www.bose.com/controller?event=VIEW_PRODUCT_PAGE_EVENT&product=sounddock_multimedia_index)
Its a Bose and affordable but want to opinions of the B/SOTL who might have more experience then i do with music systems and stereos.

BOSE = Buy Other Sound Equipment

My friend has this one and it sounds great... ZVOX

and I have this one and I really like it.

JBL

But I can't recommend BOSE to anyone, way overpriced for the mediocre equipment you receive.

iPod Connection Options -- just a dock with AV cables that you can then hook up to any stereo.

That said, I've listened to the Bose product, and if the idea of an all in one system offers convenience to you, I don't think you'll be disappointed. You can get a better sounding stereo for the same money, but the ergonomics of that system are certainly appealing.

I went to Best Buys and purchased a set of cables for the ipod and connected it to my stereo as Moki has mentioned.

Wife got me an iPod and the Bose docking station for Christmas last year, and I love mine. I keep it on a little table beside my smoking chair. Great sound! But I agree, over priced.

Ipods and MP3 players in general are the first consumer digital audio product to go backwards in sound quality. They have never, nor will they ever, "sound good" Rip real CD's uncompressed if you want quality sound.

That's funny bro!!!
I feel the same way about BOSE as I do about Monster Cable products...
Sorry I'm not more help!

My exsting stereo is old and needs to be replaced. However, I dont really want to spring for a new stereo system so since I listen to my iPod all the time now, i'm leaning toward just getting a iPod docking station. I'm renting still so I dont feel comfortable with a real nice stereo and having to move it several times before i find a perminate place. Anyway, that is what has brought me to looking at the Bose system i linked too. Plugging in an iPod to my stereo is what i want to avoid.

A docking system LIKE the BOSE would be a great choice... It's just for the price BOSE charges, I would look at some other brands!
