Thousands of women get pregnant every day. It can be a great and wonderful thing.

So why does someone like Britney Spears, a second-rate singer albeit a rich, second-rate singer getting pregnant a second time rank right up there with top news items like the Hikes in Gas Prices, The situation in Iraq, The 18 Year old in VA gunning down police officers, and Iran and it's nuclear program?

Is it because they want to focus on some happy, upbeat news vs. the common bad news that happens on a daily basis?

If so, why don't they focus on the couple who has been trying to have a family for several years. They have tried nearly every procedure only to fail again and again. But then it finally happens.

Or what about all of the children that have been born to unwed, teenage mothers who have been given up for adoption? What about those parents who have tried to have children but couldn't, and end up adopting?

Those are happy stories and they are at a more realistic level than some of the tripe that passes for news simply because it happens to concern some celebrity that wouldn't know hardship if it bit them on the ass.

I know it makes for good headlines and headlines are what sells periodicals like news papers and magazines. But is there a worth-while reason to capitalize on superfluous tripe like another celebrity becoming pregnant?

Does anyone care as little as I that Britney is pregnant? Is anyone with me on this media of insignificant value?

Now that I think about it, maybe you're all with me because I could find no mention of it in a thread.

The majority of Americans who read more pages of the Enquirer, Star, People or US magazine, than those of a newspaper. The majority of Americans who watch more minutes of Entertainment Tonight and Celeb Gossip, than that of the evening news. That's who cares....

Oh and then there's the guys like me who like "look" at pregnant women. Especially if they are in less clothes than normal....

She would be hard pressed to get the body that she used to have. Little bit of stretch marks here and a little there......

Most Americans are so intrigued by celebrities, it's pathetic. Isn't it strange that the missing girl (Halloway) in Aruba was and still is a huge story? It's because she is an attractive blonde. Tons of people go missing every day, however the media can really milk the Halloway story simply because she is an attractive young blonde, and it's good for ratings. Sad, but true. Do you really think the Halloway story is original? It happens every day. If she was ugly, I'm sure the coverage would have been much more minimal.

It all comes down to money. Why so much coverage of celebrity court cases? All about money, the media is money hungry, this is what most American's want to see. Britney's pregnant, big deal. I sure as hell don't care, however most people do, and the media knows this, so they'll take advtange of this opportunity in order to increase ratings.

I personally could give a shit which celeb is knocked up and by who :whistling:

Ditto....i'd rather see more intersting news....things that are important. BIG SURPRISE: A Slutty Blonde Celeb got knocked up. It happens all the time. She just realizes her carrier is shit and she is craving for attention because she knows shes done.

GET OVER YOURSELF....sorry little rant.

Carry on

I wouldn't have known if you didn't tell me. NowI have to hunt you down .
