Thousands of women get pregnant every day. It can be a great and wonderful thing.
So why does someone like Britney Spears, a second-rate singer albeit a rich, second-rate singer getting pregnant a second time rank right up there with top news items like the Hikes in Gas Prices, The situation in Iraq, The 18 Year old in VA gunning down police officers, and Iran and it's nuclear program?
Is it because they want to focus on some happy, upbeat news vs. the common bad news that happens on a daily basis?
If so, why don't they focus on the couple who has been trying to have a family for several years. They have tried nearly every procedure only to fail again and again. But then it finally happens.
Or what about all of the children that have been born to unwed, teenage mothers who have been given up for adoption? What about those parents who have tried to have children but couldn't, and end up adopting?
Those are happy stories and they are at a more realistic level than some of the tripe that passes for news simply because it happens to concern some celebrity that wouldn't know hardship if it bit them on the ass.
I know it makes for good headlines and headlines are what sells periodicals like news papers and magazines. But is there a worth-while reason to capitalize on superfluous tripe like another celebrity becoming pregnant?
Does anyone care as little as I that Britney is pregnant? Is anyone with me on this media of insignificant value?
Now that I think about it, maybe you're all with me because I could find no mention of it in a thread.
