I Have decided to turn a room in my basement into a Smoking room/Office. I would love to see what some of you might have come up with if you would be so kind as to share some pics :D ? I need some inspiration I have searched this topic and have not found anything. I was thinking of putting in two large bathroom exhaust fans in the room, Does anyone know of anything better that would suck the smoke out of the air?

Here's what I did.

I didn't want to smoke up my new house the way I did my last apartment, so I turned the front bedroom into my office/library/smoking room. It's got a 4' X 4' walkin closet that will get turned into a humidor next year sometime.

For ventilation, to tell you the truth, all I had to do was get one of those little two-rotor window fans, $15 at BigLots. Set it to exhaust and close the door and . . . well, that's all it takes, actually. The office will smell like cigars for a day or two after I smoke one in here, but the rest of the house, even while I've got a cigar going, you can't smell a thing.

Eventually I might go with one of those remote motor bathroom exhaust fans, just because it'd be quieter. But this works great.

I am doing the same thing. I had an unfinished basement and now working to finish it and turn it into my smoking room. I lucked up and got a house that had a cedar closet in the basement. So much of my work is in the main area of the basement. A lodge brother of mine is doing all the work. I am taking care of the painting and minor stuff. So far we put a bathroom down there and hid in the heater and water heater in its own room. Now we are in the process of building a bar. I think I am going to put a couple of those electric fire places down there for heat. Once that's done I'll seal up the cedar closet with a good door and I purchased on of those Moist N Aire units (I may be spelling it wrong). I am fortunate to have a couple of big windows in my basement. So at the moment I am not going to worry about venting to much. A buddy of mine does have the units that you are taking about but his somehow vents the air right out side the basement.

So we'll see how things go. My advice is take your time and do it at your own pace and budget. Another things there are tons of things you can get online like Ebay for decor....ash trays, poster art, and even furniture.

This is what I did also.I also got an Ionicpro air purifier that I run in the room.

Careful with that . . . it's the wrong cedar and the last thing in the world you want to store your cigars in. Actual Spanish cedar is really a type of mahogany and a completely different wood.

You can get 3/8ths sheets of Spanish cedar plywood for about $75 each. I'm going to line my closet with foil-faced foam insulation board and then panel it with that. First step is to drop an A/C vent and an electrical outlet into it, though.

As participants in the Philly herf may be able to recount, turning my basement into the "smoking room" had really negative consequences - the central air unit is there. :).

"I plan to go with a large garden shed set away from the house."
Steamboat,

Great idea!!!!!!!!

There are no less than ten threads on this subject on this forum. Try different keywords. Cave, Man Room, Air cleaner, Pissed off Wife, etc.

This is a pretty good idea too....

Man Cave

I was about to post that same link. You can watch the entire episode on their website and it might give you some good ideas.

Your biggest concern will be sealing the room from the rest of the hosue & venting to the outside.

Moki, mmBurtch You guys have awesome Rooms! that was exactly what I was looking for Congrats to the both of you the workmanship in both rooms look top notch. I especially like woodwork at mmBurtch's room. Moki has a smoking "house" gotta love that! Thanks for the links too. I couldnt get the any good search results I am going to try again with different tags.
