C Bid?

I had a problem when I ordered a chest of Genghis Khan churchills. They pack the chest nice, but the sticks are packed loose in the chest. Mine banged around in shipping and over half were damaged. Contact with them was quick and easy, and they offered to ship a new chest, but i figured it would be more of the same, so I took their offer to replace just the damaged sticks. My only gripe is that they replaced my churchills with the smaller toro 5-packs. Also, my representative went on vacation and forgot about mailing them out, but an email when she returned got them moving fast. Luckily I got a good deal, or I woulda been more pissed at the situation than I am.

I've made one purchase from them a few weeks ago. I did not have any problems with the order.
Like everyone has been saying, research the prices and set a limit.

They don't ship their cigars with the water pillows like many online shops, so you sometimes get dry cigars. I once had a five pack show up with cracks and rips in the wrapper. However, I contacted them and they quickly sent out a new fiver with a box and postage to send back the damaged goods. Do your homework and you can catch a good deal every now and then.

C-BID isn't known as 'The Devil' for nothing.
Abandon hope, all ye who enter there!
So many deals, so little cash.

Chemyst

You can limit this factor by focusing on tubos and large ring cigars. Also, stay away from mild cigars as they are more easily ruined by drying. Oh, and a cedar box is more likely to preserve cigars, too.

All mail-order cigars have another variable added because they are mailed. It's one more opportunity to have something happen to them. If a dealer adds a humidification device it greatly reduces this factor but cbid refuses to do this.
You just have to weigh the savings against the risk and don't accept ruined cigars if you get unlucky.

Time of year is also a factor - spring and fall are better than summer and winter. Summer is the worst and I wouldn't be surprised if dealers send returned boxes back out as five packs that are marginal when they can get away with it.

I just started bidding there a couple months ago. So far I have been pleased. The Gurkha sampler and legends I bought were valued at over 400 bucks and I payed a little over one hundred for them.

I just wanted to throw my two cents in as I just did a little "thumb in the wind" comparison yesterday. I won several lots (with the shipping sent to weekly) so my shipping for 25 various cigars was about $6. I went to Cigars International, the sister site, and added up exactly how much off the selling price I was able to win all these items for on cBid. The total I paid on cBid, including shipping and tax, was 45% off what it would have cost me at Cigars International. Mind you, I was not ordering any super premiums (some Rocky Patels and Torano's), but at the end of the day I am very pleased with 45% off the selling price at the sister site.

As previously mentioned, it is imperative to set shipping to weekly. I won a 10 pack, and three 5 packs, and "combined shipping" was $6. If you choose to send out each order, it would have been about $4/each, thus nullifying a big chunk of the bargain.

Do your homework and you will be fine. I was somewhat intimidated at first, but as long as you keep in mind the quantity you are bidding on, how much you are saving vs. a reputable site (i.e. do not believe cBid's "MSRP" as mentioned previously in this thread), and timing the items to end so they all can be shipped at once, you will be fine.

Oh yeah, a budget may be a good idea too.

Just realized that I received the wrong sticks in my last shipment from Cbid.

Same maker, just different than what I had bid on. I let them know, but will not get a replacement as the sticks are the same value and I was wanting to try these out anyway.

Although rarely do I even go that site anymore, I used to be a victim.

During that time, it wasn't uncommon to occasionally receive cigars that were damaged due to shipping. In addition, I even received cigars with mold on them two different times. However, what I will say good about them is their customer service. They were excellent in resolving each and every problem that I ever had.

I used to use C-Bid but have shifted my alliances to cigarauctioneer.com since I have had much better experiences with them. There seems to be much less outrageous bidding, though there is still some, and I have never had a problem with shipping. I have even had items missing from the box and they send replacements with no questions asked. Packaging is always top notch (thought no humidification) and includes bubble wrap or similar. Cigars always arrive in great condition.

 Jason! Cigarauctioneer is part of Famous.

I just scored my first there, a box of RP Factory Select Jr at $29.95 - the opening bid. Famous has them listed at $49.95
