can smoking cigars help to quit smoking cigs?

My problem is I am not STARTING cigars...I smoked both. So should I quit both? Maybe for the 1st 2 weeks to let my body "normal out" without nicotine.

I'm not an addictions counselor or anything, but I'd recommend keeping to your usual cigar intake. Consider it a periodic reward. I'd advise you from escalating your usual cigar consumption though.

I've found that AF Short Stories, Padron #35s, and DPG Black La Perlas have been good to have on hand for those times when the cravings get difficult. Due to their comparatively short burn time, it's kind of like a cigarette but it's still something I have to plan around rather than just ducking outside to smoke whenever the mood suits me like I could do with cigarettes.

I'm a few days away from 6 months and while I still miss cigarettes, I must say that quitting, while an unpleasant experience, was not nearly as awful as I had expected it to be.

Good luck!

From a medical perspective if you are really addicted to nicotine get some Chantix like somebody else had mentioned. It occupies the receptor in the brain which gets happy from nicotine and it keeps cigarettes (and cigars i suppose) from triggering the reward center when you smoke. Compared to the cost of smoking a pack a day (4-5 dollars usually for national brands) it's a wash and you can eventually stop Chantix (not to mention it's not bad for your lungs). The only negatives to Chantix are nausea which is really bad for some people, and some people have really messed up dreams. Talk to your doctor and they will more likely than not jump all over themselves to get you a script so you can stop smoking.
