Hi all,
I recently bought a collection of American Revolutionary War cannonballs and grapeshot that were reportably collected from the Guilford Courthouse battlefield many many years ago.
(For those interested: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Guilford_Court_House)

They were stored in a old cigar humidor by the original collector and were in remarkably good condition besides for a heavy patina which suggests to be that they were collected a long time ago. I was wondering if anyone would be able to date the cigar humidor they were stored in to approximate the date at which they could have been collected?
The patinia in the balls was indicative that they had been stored in the hunidor for a very very long time.

The humidor is pretty banged up due to they cannonballs being shipped in it.

Any ideas on a dating range would be much appreciated

Thanks all

Carl

A quick google search shows that copper lined humidors were common until the 1950's or so. Unless there is some sort of markings as to maker on it, you may not get a good date. Neat find though.

The lining is tin.
The only marking is embossed on the tin lining inside which says "humidor"

Sorry that should be

"Humidor
Trademark

Embossed on the tin liner

We are cigar smokers here, not staff from the Antiques Road Show. You should have it assessed by professionals. No I will not date your humidor. It doesn't float my boat.
