I've been running into trouble trying to "re-light" any cigar. It seems if I don't smoke it completely in one session it just doesn't light back up or taste right. I wrestled with a Cain maduro last night and wound up trying to cut the end off with my slicer after it didn't seem to taste the same on relight. Well, that was a mistake! They just burn if you try to light up a cut end :)

They make different size cigars for a reason, young fella.

Doc.

You certainly can smoke half later, but it will taste like ass.

Burnt, charred ass, but ass nonetheless.

Definitely can be done, but you can't expect it to taste the same. I say anything more than 60 minutes...forget about relighting it.

I've already learned the hard way once. Even with a clip and purge, and being out for 15 minutes tops, not only did it burn like ass for the first inch, it wasn't that great tasting anymore for that inch.

I smoked a RyJ Short Churchill (thanks Charley!) last night, and about 3/4 of the way into the smoke, the steaks were done and it was time to eat. I reluctantly set it down, knowing it would never be the same. An hour or so later, my buddy and I relit our cigars. He relit his DCM, I relit my RyjJ, and lord talk about nasty. We fought through for about an inch, purging them, and then promptly chucked them. Not worth it.

Just order smaller sizes like Doc said.

That's a shame, those are great smokes.

I'm working on my review skills, so I only smoke the first inch or so before I just chuck the damn things and never look back. Relight?! Pish, posh.

Life's too short to actually take the time to smoke a whole cigar. I'd much rather spend my time writing flowery reviews to influence the plebes that really don't know any better than wood tips good, non-wood tips bad.

It does taste like s**t,i would go and buy some shorter cigars like the robusto.
I wouldn't light a Winston for example if i was in a hurry...

You can smoke the other half. I don't know what these other guys are talking about! Be sure to put it back in the humi though, you don't want it drying out!

not worth it to re-light. pre-planning helps this out. fit the size and flavor to the amount of time you have....oh and ENJOY!!! :)

Words of wisdom right here, just make sure that you keep at least an inch of ash on it before putting it back in your humi...

Remember to make sure that it's still lit when you put it back in the humi....You don't want it to catch cold.....

I like to save them up until I have enough to fill a Cheech and Chong size rolling paper. It's like getting a whole new cigar for free.

Best laugh I've had all day!

Well thanks guys! I actually re-lit the last of a "cuban spliff" today. Great smoke, and still worked after lighting again. However, it was only out for about 10 minutes :)
