Can't find Opus X?

I don't know if this is appropriate or not, but I know a lot of people have a very hard time finding Fuente Fuente Opus X... and the places that sell them online sell them for 3X what they really are.

The tobacconist I work with has been in business with Fuente for almost 30 years and has steady lines of OpusX with good prices and no limits.

I was considering doing people favors by picking these up and shipping them out as a courtesy. I can't do box quantities (because the boxes themselves are very hard to manufacture and we simply get non-display boxes for refill (while reusing ours).

I'm not even sure if this would work, but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in me doing this? I know it can be a pain to find them, and the prices are outrageous online. Some places sell the Belicoso XXX for $32/ea.!!

Anyway, any ideas??

Sounds good.
Probably easier to sell 5'ers of each type of OPUS you can get. Of course most ppl would be willing to pay the 3.85 for priority shipping.

What prices can your get the different cigars at?

I take the price tags off of all my cigars, but I will be in the shop tomorrow so I can get together a price list of our stock.

Just for sake of conversation until I check our stock, what do you consider good prices?

Haha, is there even an MSRP on these with how bad businesses inflate the prices? :D

That is what we would be willing to pay...what state do you live in? Because we know MSRP...it all depends if you're going to hit us with state taxes. But if it's fair...let us know.

It's higher than MSRP with our tobacco tax 32%(?), but not a whole lot higher than what you list because I still get it wholesale. Are you guys actually able to buy at those prices?

Sounds like you're trying to gauage what people will pay, which is bad form IMHO. Also, you may want to send your end first considering you only have 12 posts and just joined today.

Yes. When they are available the local retailer here seems to sell at MSRP(+taxes). Probably why they don't last too long.

That definately won't happen, but if you want you can check my feedback on Ebay and other forums where I've sold $12,000+ in camera equipment (under the same name).

Besides, this would be a favor -- I have no gain from this. Believe me, I'm not guaging what people would pay, I'm just wondering what people do pay. I have to get our retail prices and subtract out our markup to know what to tell you guys, and I don't have that information sitting infront of me all the time.

On that note, if I were you, I'd stick around here for a while...then maybe you'll get a "feel" for the board. If you really are a true BOTL and are trying to help another BOTL out, I'd recommend send out your end first. What goes around comes around. How do you expect the older members around here to trust you if you don't trust them?

If you really have the right reasons in mind, this would be a very nice gesture.

Good luck, and welcome to CP.

Edited for spelling.

Thanks, bchem.

I understand what you mean about trust, but I've been burnt too many times with internet deals to do that. Maybe (if I even decide to do this), a few people will take a chance and tell the others. If not, oh well, I've got two businesses to run so it's no harm to me :D

By the way, what's a 'BOTL'?

I, too, see where you are coming from, HOWEVER, you just joined today! Seriously, stick around, read some threads and you'll seee the caliber of people on this board. Eventually, you'll get the idea.

Good luck.

I totally understand. It's the same deal on other forums where I sell my photo gear. They're all good people, but here and there, there is always a bad seed.

Anyway, I plan to stick around. Plus, like I said, I don't even know what the exact prices would be -- so there's the possibility that nobody will want them anyway

The boxes are pretty elegant and very well made. The predicament lies in that Chateau de Fuente is extremely honed, as compared to other cigar manufactureres. For example, instead of each roller making 175-200 cigars a day, they roll only 50-75 cigars. The cigars are a blend of 5 fillers and two wrappers (or 2 binders, whichever) and are not easy to roll, so the workers they do have must be very skilled (and they are very well paid). In addition, Chateau de Fuente has 18-20 rollers at any given time, not (sometimes) 100s like other makers. The same idea goes for the boxes. Fewer people, better materials, better quality.
