Car Vomit!

My 5 year old nephew decided to do the New Jersey yodel in the back of the car I've been driving . Car has been reeking of vomit for the last couple of days and I've been trying everything to get the smell out to no avail. After scooping all the vomit out, I tried scrubbing with soap and water, febreezing the inside, using those hanging pine trees. No luck.

I can't take this any longer, it is absolutely terrible. Any help on how to get rid of vomit smell from a car would be greatly appreciated. Remind me to never have kids.

1. sell car (reminds me of the Seinfeld episode - stink)
2. go to pet store, get some stuff with enzymes

It's gonna take a whole bunch of pet cleaner. That's the only thing that worked for me.

funny you said that a friends girlfriend got sick in his car over the weekend. HE used simple green and then carpet cleaned the truck out I can not smell any thing. But I do know the longer you wait the harder it is to get out the smell.. Just my 2 cents I do like the yodel comment cool

As others have said, buy some of the pet urine removers with active enzymes to break down the bacteria causing the smell. Soak liberally and allow to dry.

After that stuff has a chance, soak the yodel area in lemon juice and it should take care of anything left.

If the vomit was in the front or rear passneger well on the carpet, fresh cat litter works well too, the clay scented kind...leave it there for a while and it will absorb and neutralize the odor...I guess you could use it on a seat too but it would be messier...

I used to work for a high dollar uphosltery shop and had to deal with problems like these on a frequent basis. Have all your upholstery steam cleaned, then hit it with an industrial strength odor remover/neutralizer(available at your better detail or upholstery shops). And when i say steam cleaned, im talkin a REAL steam cleaner...not those cheezy carpet cleaners you see at the grocery store with couch attachments! Febreeze will only take care of so much...and it honestly, doesnt really work that well at all. The perfume they put in it does a good job at covering alot of stinky smells, but it doesnt always "lift" the smell out like the advertise.

Definitely sell the car! It's got a funk.....

No, a lot of good advice, I would try some carpert cleaner and if that doesn't work take it in to get steam cleaned.

Never heard this term before but for connecting NJ with Vomit you deserve to have a stink car   :D

Tossing the car is out of the question since it is not my car and it is brand new. I borrowed this car from my Grandma whom I am visiting along with other familiy in Cali this week. But thank ya'll for suggestions, I'll try the pet stuff and if it doesn't work I'll get it soaped and cleaned before I return the car to my Grandma.

The kid basically ruined the new car smell. His parents forgot to tell me that he can't travel by car for long distances after he eats, without showing his version of the technicolor rainbow.

I've used "Nature's Miracle", works great on everything from pet stains to vomit. It's a pet stain remover and you should be able to get it at any major pet store.
