Cbid ethics question

I use cbid for my filler cigars. I smoke a few real premiums a week from trusted vendors. I usually smoke something cheaper that I happen to enjoy for my commute and I get most of them from the auction.

I have started putting 'cp' in my comments to identify myself as a cp botl. And then I hesitated. Is this unethical collusion? I know I wouldn't want to push up one of your bids, would rather you get them cheaper and that most of you would think the same. But perhaps I am off base. These cigars are not that important that I get them but I would like to get them as cheap as possible.

What do you all think?
 
Personally I don't use cbid any longer due to their unethical shipping practices and less than professional customer service. Not to mention continually having received broken merchandise -- I finally gave up.
 
I do not feel that there is anything ethically wrong with this.

There could be a value debate issue in this question, which is the difference in getting something cheap or allowing yourself to step out of the way for a friend. When friendship and price collide, I think that most people here would choose friendship and brotherhood rather than over getting a good deal.

I am sure, too, that you would step out of the way if a friend and brother had found the better price on the cigars. What goes around comes around, whether good or bad...

Nothing more wrong about us working the system than there is about them doing it by auctioning off Opus X and other cigars of that nature.
 
I don't see any issues with that at all.

Just got a box of LFD L300's for $20.00 off the catalog price, and I've won several 5-ers of Padron 64/26's at a fair (retail or less) price. Got to admit, though, they usually don't have much to hold my interest.

So far, I've got no issues with their shipping policy (set it up to ship only once a week) and they took care of a minor issue pretty much spot on. I'll do some business with them going forward, but as mentioned, they just don't have much that's of interest any more....

my only problem with cbid is that they ship thier cigars bone dry...and it can take months for them to recover
 
That's the other thing about cbid, what BBS said. They just don't really have alot of really good premium cigars that I'm looking for. They auction off alot of rockets and middle of the road cigars, and unfortunately when they do have something decent to auction it gets bid way past retail rather quickly. I'm sure there are times if you're watching or get lucky where you can get a good cigar under retail. But like everyone else has said before, just go there and bid what you want to pay, then leave it alone. If you win, great. If not then move along and try another day.

We did.

Just my $.02 but I don't pay attention to comments. If I want the sticks and they are a price I feel is good, I bid. It's an auction, not a team sport.
 
I began putting "CP" into the comments of my bids a while back. Don't know if it's ever helped or not, but I'll continue to do so. I have not seen any other bids with "CP" in the comments, though.
