So after running a few errands, I went to the book store and took a peak at C.A.
Herfin Bigdog, you hit it on the head. Definitely does not hit anything I would be interested in and very few content about cigars. The Cadillac and Hummer ads were pretty. Lot of fluff.

Seems to cater to the 20 something night clubber who has the sweater hanging on the back of his shoulders, driving the BMW that daddy gave him... :whistling:

In the beginning CA was the reason there was a cigar boom. They single handily created the boom with their magazine. It was a very good magazine up until around 1999 or so. They are now a joke when it comes to cigar content. Cigar Insider is also a joke,their ratings are ridiculous.

The best magazine out there now is Cigar Magazine. No one comes close to it's cigar content. Smoke magazine was always a rag and that will never change.


As far as books go I would recommend Min Ron Nee's encylopedia to cigars. Excellent info and some great pics. Another good book is Theo Rudmans Guide to Cigars. I still use that book as a reference when I am looking for size info. They also have a 5 star rating system that is pretty good.

We have Borders and Barnes and Noble. I will check to see if they have either of the two. Be nice to have a reference guide.

I am going to check out Cigar Magazine more to see what it has.

You won't find MRN at Borders or Barnes and Noble. It was very limited in distribution and is not readily available. Someone may know a place that has some copies left from the last printing. I agree with Harris though - definitely worth buying if you can find one - a great resource.

CA isn't what it used to be but it's fun to flip through and read the interviews with cigar makers, etc. Don't give their ratings any weight though. I know I have several issues in Charlottesville. PM me your addy and I'll box 'em up and send them to you next week. I'll have to grab them when I go back to C-Ville this weekend. Will save me moving them here. lol

LOL. Is that before or after the pedicure and after you golfed a round at the $25,000 a year dues, country club? They did have the top 10 golf courses. Next up, top 10 places for pedicures and the in depth article on how to buy a Rolex.
