Cigar Band Contest 2009

Just a few more days left to guess the number of bands. This only applies to members that joined before Jan 2009. Good luck at guessing you bunch of slackers. :laugh:
 
Just a final top before tomorrow's dead line. I will post the winners after it passes and will need the addresses of the winners. There was a couple of awesome guesses. :thumbs:
 
Less than 2 hours to take 15 seconds to guess for those that was members before Jan 1st, 2009. So far I have the 3 winners picked out unless someone else can bring the A game and pick a closer number. :D
 
Ok...here is the final counts of each category.

A = 255 total Opus X bands so it was a busy year.

B = 736 total bands for the NC so another busy year.

C = 991 total bands between the 2 categories.

So it was a very busy year for cigar smoking. These are the total numbers for the picture and doesn't account for all the non-banded cigars I smoked nor the other bags of bands I have laying around. I'm guessing the total number of cigars for this time frame is in excess of 1800 cigars for a little over a year. :laugh:

Was some very close guesses.

Category A winner was stlboarder with 180

Category B winner is fourthrail with 711

Category C winner is BMW with 978

You 3 please send me your Addies via PM. I will get the winnings out in the first week or two of March. Waiting for some other cigars to come in so that sending the package is worth the cost of shipping several cigars versus just 1.

Thanks again for the guesses and never under estimate the power of Opus X and myself. :p
 
That is a insane amount of Opus X cigars.... and I can't find any anywhere around me... now I know where they all go! :D

Group decision-making is of particular interest to me, so I nerded out and tracked the numbers.

In case anyone else is interested, here's the low, high, and average guesses for each category along with the correct answer and its difference from the average guess.

A (38 guesses) 47, 180*, 103.84, 255, (151.16)
B (12 guesses) 237, 818, 498.25, 736, (237.75)
C (18 guesses) 277, 1030, 577.69, 991, (413.31)

For this type of task where everyone generally has the same frames of reference, relevant experience and insight, etc., the correct answer is often very close to the group's average. That wasn't the case here. As a group, we really underestimated things.

*The highest guess for Category A was the winning entry.

Some people rave about CC or some other NC brand. I prefer a Opus over any cigar on the market. Give me the rarest Opus X and I would smoke it without a doubt. I collect to burn them. :D
 
Good contest Mr. Peat. I can't get over the number of Opus, just as every one else also. I think it goes without saying, but you definitely enjoyed some sticks over that year and few months.
